Description

'Bella Vista' (1800 m) is a very popular peak in Bariloche, that offers wonderful views of Nahuel Huapi lake and the surrounding peaks in this area.

If you like gaining elevation quickly and you are fit enough for a steady 2-hour up-hill trek, then this is the right hike for you!

The journey begins at 'Refugio Jacob' trailhead, which is also called 'El Tambo'. From there, we'll start climbing the Southeast ridge of Mount Bella Vista. The landscape is wonderful: a tree forest with old 'Coihues' and flowers. Besides, it's a great spot for bird watching!

Then, we'll reach some great viewpoints, where we can rest and drink some fresh water. We can find orchids among the rocks at this part.

We'll continue the ascent and enter a 'Lenga' tree forest. Those trees will turn into shrubs soon after. Among the common birds in this area, you may see some Magellanic Giant Woodpeckers.

The trail offers some stunning views of Lago Moreno as well as the amazing lake system of this region of the Andes, as we continue ascending the mountain.

Once in the summit ridge, we'll enjoy some sandwiches with the typical 'Mate'. From there, there's one more hour of climbing to the summit of Mount Bella Vista.

The top of this mountain has a stunning 360 degrees view of all the peaks and valleys near Bariloche. If we are lucky, we may even see some condors. After admiring this wonderful scenery, we'll return through the same route.

The day ends at Berlina, a local microbrew where we'll go for a Patagonian beer.

Mountain Leader

AAGM mountain guide from Argentina.

I was raised in Buenos Aires where I used to go sailing and fishing with my family during weekend and holidays. As a teenager I began traveling to Patagonia with friends to fish, hike and camp. Years later I became a rock climber and mountaineer since I wanted to asses more summits and amazing views.

At the age of 23 and after gathering a good amount of fun ascents and traverses along Patagonia, I decided to fully commit to a life in the outdoors. As a result I started my carrier at N.O.L.S. – National Outdoors Leadership School in the U.S.A. and Chile. I lead rock climbing and mountaineering trips in Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Alaska and in Aysen (Chilean Patagonia) for nine years.

In 2009 finally settled permanently in Bariloche and focused my guiding work on the Lake District Region. Here I discovered new styles of guiding and service which were good to experience and helped me grow in this profession. Now I am able to mix my background on outdoor education with the guiding world and create unique experiences for active travelers.

I take advantage of every season of the year, going mountain biking and sea-kayaking in the summer, ice-skating on alpine lakes during the Fall, back-country skiing during the Winter, rock climbing and mountaineering as soon as the Spring makes it way through the snow.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
