Description

For 8 wonderful days, I would like to guide you on a ski touring trip at the Purcell Mountain Lodge. In addition to ski touring, you will also get to learn a great deal during an AST2 avalanche skills training seminar.

Located in the Canadian Rockies, near the border between British Columbia and Alberta, the Purcell Mountain Lodge is right in the middle of the majestic mountain range. For 8 days, you will get to ski tour on several amazing slopes in those mountains that will provide you with astounding views and impeccable powder at every jump and turn.

Your trip will begin with an exciting helicopter ride from Nelson to the Purcell Mountain Lodge. After that, you will settle into your comfortable lodging. From there, In the mornings and evenings, we will be learning about avalanche skills in a classroom environment. While you’re skiing, you will learn right on the slopes, as we will cover terrain choices, route planning, and other important topics. Finally, on the last day of the trip, you will enjoy a half-day of ski touring, followed by another helicopter ride back to your original pick-up point.

This program can be split into a 4-day, 5-day, or 8-day program. In order to participate in this trip, you should be in good physical condition. It is also important that you can ski at an intermediate level and have AST1 training.

Price details

The price listed is for early bird bookings until the 1st of December 2022. After that date, the price will raise 500CAD.
The price includes: 8 days and 7 nights tour, guiding fee, avalanche skills training level 2, food, accommodation at the Ymir Backcountry hut, heli flights in and out of Nelson BC.
The price does not include equipment (please inquire about rentals), or GST tax.

Mountain Guide

Based in Canmore, Alberta, I am an IFMGA- and ACMG-certified mountain guide. I also serve in the Canadian Armed Forces and am a founding partner of the Outward Bound Veterans Program.

My mission is for you to learn the skills to be competent and independent in the backcountry. I will break down complex skill sets into individual building blocks for you to learn progressively and confidently. After learning the skills, you will get to practice them in the backcountry with my guidance or that of one of the ACMG-certified guides in my team.
