Description

Are you looking for a scenic, but challenging full day escape in the natural landscape of the Hudson valley? Then this amazing hike is definitely for you. We would like to offer a trekking trip that will see you ascending to the summits of 2 great peaks in the area: Wittenberg (3,784 feet) and Cornell (3,868 feet).

During this wonderful hike, you will get to enjoy a series of spectacular views of the Hudson valley. You will get to see what will seem like an endless collection of trees, lakes, rivers and meadows. You may even get lucky and be able to spot some of the vibrant area’s wildlife, too. And that’s before we even reach Wittenberg and Cornell.

When we finally do reach the peaks of this trip, we will first ascend Wittenberg. Following the summit of Wittenberg, we will proceed along a narrow ridge line that spans 10 to 50 feet to the Cornell Crack. The Cornell Crack is a challenging and unique feature of the mountain that will require you to use your hands. Afterwards, we will then hike to the summit of Cornell, where you will get to enjoy even more great views of the valley below.

Because this trip has some technical challenges, participants should have some previous experience. And because we will be hiking for approximately 7 miles, you should also be in good physical condition as well.

Participants on this trip should bring the following items with them: a lunch, snacks, 2 litres of water, a backpack, weather appropriate clothing, hat, gloves, and an extra pair of wool socks, trekking poles are recommended, chapstick, camera, waterproof hiking boots.
