Description

Join for a great adventure in the stunning peaks of the Julian Alps, combining winter mountaineering and alpine climbing.

In the Southern Alps of Slovenia we'll find excellent snow and ice conditions during the whole winter season.

During this 6-day trip, you'll be trained on the basic skills for winter mountaineering. Among other things, you'll learn how to test the stability of snow, walk and climb with crampons as well as using ice axes.

Besides, you'll also receive some lessons on clothing systems suitable to face cold temperatures in the mountains.

Some of the places we'll visit include Nad Šitom Glava and Mojstrovka (two accessible peaks above the Vršič pass), and Tamar (where we'll find several icefalls). We'll chose the locations for each day according to the snow and weather conditions.

These are the top reasons to join this trip:
  • You'll be surrounded by wonderful landscapes: hidden valleys and magical icefalls will be part of our traverse.

  • It's a great opportunity to learn how to move safely in the mountains during winter. You'll get skills that will prevent you from experiencing stressful situations.

  • You'll be guided by a professional mountain guide with extensive knowledge of the terrain.

  • Finally, the highlight of our trip will be reaching the summit of Mount Triglav (2864 m), the highest and most iconic peak in Slovenia.

Come with me an discover the outstanding beauty of the Slovenian peaks during winter! Send a request so we can start planning this trip together.

If you are interested in skiing, you should check these other trips: 1 week of ski touring in the Southern Alps or 1-day of ski touring in Logarska, Slovenia.

Mountain Guide

I am a Slovenian IFMGA mountain guide with the ZGVS.
It was when I was 12 years old that I first climbed a mountain myself and by the age of 15 I had started rock climbing.
Since then, my ascents count up to around 1000, starting from Mont Blanc in the seventies and Triglav north face to Cho Oyu, and all over South America including 18 of the 6000m+ peaks including a first ascent on south face of Aconcagua.

I have climbed and travelled all over the world, Shivlinga, K2, Mt Everest, Manaslu, Shishi Panama, El Cap and sport climbing in Kalymnos and Cuba.

Skiing powder in great conditions and rock climbing under the sun are my motto!

Contact me if you'd like to have fun safely in the mountains with me! If I am unavailable then my trusted friend guides, Franc and Milan, can take care of you!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
