Wild vegetation course and hike in Bernese Jura

A super interesting experience in the Bernese Jura region led by local UIMLA-certified mountain leader Noé. He will show you the wide variety of plants in the area and teach you how to recognize them.

It is a pleasure for me to invite you to spend a different weekend in Bernese Jura, a magnificent place in the Canton of Bern, surrounded by a rich variety of native plants.

Our challenge for this 3-day adventure will be to learn all the secrets of the vegetation that grow in this area of Switzerland. That way you will know how to recognize which plants can be eaten or used to make delicious meals and which ones are highly toxic.

During this weekend in Bernese Jura I will also guide you through incredible spots like Chasseral and Vallon de Saint-Imier, a beautiful valley in the Jura Mountains. There, we will look for native flora, we’ll harvest some special plants and then cook with those ingredients that we have obtained from nature.

I will also teach you some key tips to identify edible plants while telling you some stories that will help you to better understand the biodiversity of the Jura Bernese region. Once we collect the plants, you’ll be able to separate the edible ones from those that can not be eaten. At night we will prepare a delicious dinner all together!

This trek starts at the Biel train station. As for the requirements for this trip, it is not necessary to have previous experience. We’ll enjoy easy and short walks (between 3 and 5 hiking hours per day) on gentle trails. All you have to bring is a backpack with some snacks for the day.
