Climb the beautiful Water Gate via ferrata in northern Bohemia, in the Czech Republic, along with IFMGA-certified mountain guide Vojtech. This program is perfect for beginners.

Water Gate is a short via ferrata located in the Giant Mountains (1,603m), over the Jizera River, close to the town of Semily, in the Liberec region, on the north of Bohemia, the westernmost and largest historical area of the Czech Republic. It lays 100 kilometers away from the country’s capital city of Prague.
The journey is mostly along a secured path, without artificial steps, and is usually completed in about an hour. The trail begins by the Jizera River’s bank. It then features a slight overhang, which is the most difficult section, followed by three alternating hobs, and a few other challenging sections. Then the descent is quite easy, along a steel rope. As a fun fact, on the ferrata’s top there is a record book, where you will be able to write down your name leaving evidence of your achievement!
The outing’s total duration is from 2 to 3 hours. It includes a theoretical introduction to via ferrata climbing and safety guidelines, some practical exercises, and the ascent and descent along the route.
Given its proximity with Semily, its natural beauty, and the easy nature of the route, Water Gate is a very popular via ferrata, often crowded. Therefore, if possible, holidays should be avoided. In addition, if time permits, once you complete Water Gate, I recommend you to hike across the red Riege’s Trail, on the opposite side of the ferrata, which consists of hanging bridges over the rugged canyon. I also recommend visiting the Kosákov sightseeing point, which offers a beautiful view to the Bohemian Paradise and the Giant Mountains, still covered in snow in May!
This program is open to everyone, including kids over 6 years old. It is perfect for beginners and serves as great preparation for more challenging routes.

Mountain Guide
My name is Vojtěch but everybody calls me Watt. I started climbing when I was 16. In 2009 I got certified as a mountain guide.
My favourite activities include climbing, MTB, skiing and trail running.
These are some of my favourite crags: Prachovské skály, Bišík and Zbiroh (sandstone in The Bohemian Paradise) and Moravian Karst (limestone).
One of my best climbing achievements was in Val Qualido (Italy), also the north face of Malý Kežmarský štít, in the High Tatras (Slovakia), and many more!
As a side job, I am the editor in chief of an outdoor web, I write methodology articles for climbing magazines and climbing comics.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
