* Go across a glacier in an exciting and classic via ferrata.

* Contemplate spectacular views during the whole tour.

Description

Towering between the borders of Veneto and Trentino, Marmolada is the highest mountain in the Dolomites. Take part in this trip and discover one of the most popular via ferratas in Val di Fassa!

This classic via ferrata is very exciting and challenging. It will take us to Punta Penia (3,343 m), the highest summit in this peak. With an extension of 800 meters, it involves crossing a glacier during the descent. Besides, you'll enjoy stunning views on the summit!

The starting point of this via ferrata adventure will be Lago di Fedaia, at 8 km east of Canazei. The total length of the trip will be between 5 and 7 hours.

At the beginning of the season, I can take up to 4 participants. While in the end it is better to go only with 2. During the next summer, lifts will be closed. So, we can start early in the morning and make a long tour or we can choose to spend the night before at the Rifugio Pian dei Fiacconi. It's up to you!

Keep in mind that you need to add a walking axe and a rope for glacier crossing to the regular via ferrata equipment for this trip. All the equipment is included in the price.

Would you like to join this via ferrata challenge to the Queen of the Dolomites? Please, send a request! It will be my pleasure to guide you on this fantastic tour.

For other via ferrata routes in the area, consider Roda de Vael & Masarè via ferratas.

Mountain Guide

I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.

Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.

My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).

Feel free to get in touch with me if you are coming in the Dolomites for skiing (alpine, freeride and ski touring), rock climbing, sport climbing and multi pitch climbing. It will be my pleasure to guide you here and let you discover my secret spots.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
