The Dolomite Alps in northern Italy feature Via Ferrata itineraries for all levels. So both if you've never tried this activity before or if you are an expert climber, we'll find the perfect itinerary for you to have a fun and exciting day!
Via Ferrata is a legacy of the First World War. During the conflict, soldiers built these first routes equipped with bridges, ladders and cables. The goal was to allow for easier and safer climbs. So Via Ferrata was actually born here, in the beautiful Dolomite Alps.
However, in addition to these historic routes, locals built other routes over the years. Using these routes, tourists are able to climb very steep and rocky peaks without having to be expert climbers.
The region offers a wide variety of different routes adapted to all climbing levels. For example, the Bepi Zach route is perfect for beginners, while the Rodella route is more adapted to intermediate climbers.
This activity is reserved for the summer months. However, if you are visiting during the winter, make sure you check out my Ice-climbing course for beginners. It is a great option to give your first steps on the ice!
Join me on this Via Ferrata course. We'll find the perfect route for you to feel challenged and have fun. Contact me with any questions you may have!

The place to stay is Canazei in the Fassa valley, Dolomites
We start every day from there. In the area we have many via ferrata for every level. For example Tridentina , Mesules, Roda de Vael, Masare… The best is to start with something easy and then we can decide what to do next.
You need a lunch pack and maybe, there will be some lift fees, depending on what we do.

What kind of shoe/boot is recommended for via ferrata?
Hiking or approach shoes or boots with semi-rigid or fairly stiff sole are the ideal footwear for via ferrata, as you have to be comfortable climbing on metal ladder rungs and walking on rocks. Sneakers are not recommended, as they can be quite slippery.
Can I join a group tour to do a via ferrata?
Yes, I offer weekly group departures for the Alpini via ferrata near Cortina. You can check all the information here: https://www.explore-share.com/trip/1-day-via-ferrata-dolomites-cortina/

Mountain Guide
I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.
Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.
My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).
Feel free to get in touch with me if you are coming in the Dolomites for skiing (alpine, freeride and ski touring), rock climbing, sport climbing and multi pitch climbing. It will be my pleasure to guide you here and let you discover my secret spots.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
