Description

Madeira is an archipelago in front of the northwestern coast of Africa that belongs to Portugal. An old irrigation system built by farmers crosses the entire island and will give us the chance to reach many beautiful spots by foot. On this 1-day hike, we’ll follow one of these water channels, called levadas. Don’t miss this trip across Vereda do Larano!

Our program will start in the village of Machico and finish in Porto da Cruz. On the way, we’ll discover some of the most dazzling landscapes on the north coast of Madeira. We’ll have some stunning photo ops as we walk with the sea at our side and admire the local vegetation.

Take into account that this hike has a medium level of difficulty. Also, we’ll cover a distance of 10,5 kilometers and spend 4-5 hours walking. Therefore, it’s very important not to be afraid of heights and to be in good physical shape.
