In the heart of the Mont Blanc massif, the Vallée Blanche is an exceptional option for an off-piste ski descent. Join us for an exciting ski day this winter or spring!
Over 20 kilometers long, this descent starts at the summit of Aiguille du Midi (3842m) and ends in Chamonix-Mont Blanc (1050m) or at the Montenvers train, depending on the snow conditions.
If you are not a very experienced off-piste skier, a certified mountain guide is essential for this adventure! We will be on high mountain and glacial terrain.
We will choose the best itinerary depending on the number of participants and their level, as there are many possibilities. Some options are the Classic route, the Petit Envers or the Grand Envers.
The Classic route of the Vallée Blanche takes about 4-6 hours. This descent is long and, although it is not difficult, you need to be able to control speed and trajectory. If we had to compare it to a run, it could probably be a Red. But keep in mind that here we are off-piste, without organized safety measures.
At the end of the descent, we need to ascend by foot for about 20 minutes to reach the Mottets chalet and then Chamonix, or the Montenvers train.
Please send us a request if you are interested in this off-piste descent, one of our favourites in the Alps. We would love to guide you!

Meeting point
How many people can join to ski down la Vallée Blanche with you?
I’ll take maximum 4 people with me (sometimes even less if the conditions are too risky). If you are more than the maximum number of people, I’ll ask another mountain guide (friend of me) to join us.
What kind of skis to we need to have with us?
It will be downhill off-piste skiing from Aiguille du Midi. You don't necessarily need ski touring setup for that. Depending on the conditions, wide skis are better if there will be powder. If you don’t have the right equipment, you can rent it in Chamonix. I recommend you to go to Concept Pro Shop located at the foot of the Aiguille du Midi lift.
What happen if the conditions don’t allow us to ski down La Vallée Blanche?
If the conditions don’t allow us to make it safely (I’ll be the one deciding about this!), we’ll go off piste skiing and/or ski touring in one of the resorts of Chamonix. The price will remain the same.
What equipment do we need to have with us?
You need normal ski equipment with fat skis if possible, normal ski clothes, a backpack (that can carry your skis) and your safety gear (transceiver, shovel and probe). Based on the conditions of La Vallée Blanche, you might need to have with you a harness, crampons and an ice axe. We’ll discuss this together a few days before to confirm the exact equipment to take with you. I you need to rent part of the equipment, I recommend you to go to Concept Pro Shop. They are based at the starting station of Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix.
What ski pass do I need to have?
You need to have a 'Mont Blanc Unlimited' lift pass.
Can I/we join a group?
No, sorry. For safety reasons, I'm guiding private groups only.
What included in the price I'm paying here?
The price you pay here covers my guiding fee. It doesn't include:

Based in Chamonix, I am in love with the Alps because of everything they offer me: great off-piste skiing, perfect granite climbing, superb peaks and ridges in high altitude.
I love to work with people, share my experience with them and guide them with passion.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
