Description

Join me for an exciting day in the Dolomites and discover Val Setus, one of the most appealing and popular freeride / ski touring itineraries in the range.

Located in northeastern Italy, the Dolomites are a beautiful mountain range that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. They are a popular destination year-round, and during the winter months they are a great option when it comes to skiing. In particular, I invite you to the area of the Sella group.

We will start by taking the Sass Pordoi cablecar. From there, we will ski down to the Pordoi Pass. Then follows a two-hour walk with the skins crossing the Boè Hut on the Sella upland. The walk is easy and pleasant, enjoying spectacular views. In particular, the panorama from the Boè Hut is breathtaking! After a wide slope, we will access a narrow gully which gets wider and wider until we reach Passo Gardena. Finally, with the Sella Ronda lifts we will reach again the starting point.

Thanks to the northern exposure, it is very common to find powder snow in this itinerary. Ideal for a freeride skiing day! In general, snow conditions are best from mid January until the end of the ski season.

This program is designed for skiers with good off-piste and ski touring technique who want to experience a new adventure, skiing in the inspiring terrain of high mountains. The Dolomites offer the perfect playground for this thrilling experience.

If you want to spend an unforgettable day exploring Val Setus, send me a request to book this trip! It will be my pleasure to guide you there. And why not considering other freeride options in the area as well? Check out my program in Val Mesdi!

Mountain Guide

I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.

Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.

My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).

Feel free to get in touch with me if you are coming in the Dolomites for skiing (alpine, freeride and ski touring), rock climbing, sport climbing and multi pitch climbing. It will be my pleasure to guide you here and let you discover my secret spots.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
