Join me to spend a day discovering the most popular freeride descent of the Dolomites. Let’s go to Val Mesdi and spend a wonderful freeride ski day!
The Val Mesdi is a valley in the Sella Group, part of the beautiful Dolomites, in Italy. It offers unique, breathtaking panoramic views. Running from south to north, the itinerary is very exciting, with different sections offering changes in the rhythm.
To access Val Mesdi, we will follow the Sella Ronda itinerary, and then go through the Sella Group. From the Sass Pordoi cablecar station, we will go to the Pordoi saddle (2950m) and cross to the left. Then we will put fit the skins on our skis to reach the Boè Hut (2871m), arriving at the entrance of the valley for an amazing descent of about 6 kilometers among high rock walls. Finally, we will reach Colfosco (Alta Badia). To end the program, we will follow the Sella Ronda itinerary to go back to our starting point.
The views from the Boè Hut over Val Mesdi are particularly stunning, and we will take some time to enjoy them.
As this is a very popular descent, the track of this tour is very well groomed. Except, of course, the day after a large snowfall. But in general, it is possible to cross the Boè Hut even with regular ski equipment, simply walking with the skis on our shoulders or backpacks.
This program’s difficulty is classified as moderate, but it can be quite challenging depending on the conditions! If you have any doubts about your level and ability, feel free to ask me and I will be happy to advise you.

Mountain Guide
I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.
Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.
My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area.
