Description

Backcountry ski touring is an amazing winter activity. It gives you the thrill of descents, while also providing you with the joy of exploring gorgeous natural areas. However, to best enjoy this amazing activity it is important to know how to enjoy it properly and safely. And that is why on this full day clinic, from 8 am to 4 pm, we will teach you all we know about backcountry ski touring. You will also have the added bonus of getting to learn in the beautiful Wasatch mountains of Utah, just outside of Salt Lake City.

During the clinic we will instruct you on the necessary techniques to enjoy great backcountry ski touring. Some examples of what will be covered during the clinic includes the following:

Equipment
Procedures for travel in avalanche terrain
Techniques for maximising efficiency on skins
Trail setting
Route selection
Proper procedures for descent in avalanche prone terrain
Techniques for skiing and boarding in untracked snow

You will also get to have a lot of fun during the clinic as you will get to ski down several of the area’s wonderful slopes. Thus giving you the opportunity to put what you have learned directly into practice.

Based in the Wasatch Range near Salt Lake and Park City since 1993, Utah Mountain Adventures (UMA) is the premier full-spectrum, year-round guide service in Utah.

Programs include backcountry skiing, split-snowboarding, rock climbing, ice climbing, avalanche instruction, summer and winter mountaineering, trekking (hiking and snowshoeing) and canyoneering skills.

Led by Julie Faure and Tyson Bradley, UMA (formerly Exum Utah Mountain Adventures) operates under a permit issued by the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
