Description
At 2,864 m., Triglav is the highest mountain in Slovenia and of the Julian Alps. It is located on the border between Austria and Italy and is one of Slovenia’s emblems. On these private guided climbing tours, you will be able to explore this breathtaking peak via the route that we choose together.
The easiest climbing route up to Triglav’s summit is via the Krma valley. It involves a 2000 meter climb and a 400 meter via ferrata. Otherwise, those who prefer a harder ascent can join me on a route that starts at the Vrata valley and involves a 2000 meter climb and a via ferrata of about 1500 meters. A third option is to explore a scenic route that will take us through the seven lakes. This is the longest of the three alternatives but the scenery is worth it.
Although climbing Triglav can be done in a day, I always suggest to all my clients and friends to take at least two days to enjoy a safe and great climbing experience. There are also multi-day climbing options.

Price details
- The program can be done in a day if you feel like you are superfit person (level 5 on scale 15 in endurance). The price in that case is 500€ for one person and 600€ for two persons (300€ each).
- However I suggest all my guests to take at least two days to climb Triglav. The price for two days is 950€ for one person and 1000€ for two persons. Price for private guiding during the group climbs season(June 15th end of September) is 1100€ for up to 4 guests and 275€ for each additional person in the group.
- We can also take three days to climb it and combine the hardest way with the way with the best sighs or something else. The price for three days is 1425€ for one person, 1500€ for two guests and 550€ per person for three or more guests.
- The price includes guiding, one transport, technical equipment rental and costs of the guide on the huts.
- On all the climbs there is additional cost of food and accommodation on the mountain, which is around 70€ per person per night.
- If our starting and finishing point are in a different valley there is cost of additional transfer, which varies between 2070€, depending on how far apart our starting and finishing points are.
- All the mentioned prices include:
- Guiding fee;
- One transfer;
- Rental of technical equipment;
- Guide's expenses.
- If you want to start this trip in another valley of Slovenia, the transfer will have an extra cost. It can vary between 20 and 70 euros and will depend on the distance of the starting/finish points.
Itinerary
Day 1: Ascent to Mountain Hut
In the morning, enjoy an early breakfast before departing from Bled/Bohinj to the trailhead. Ahead of us we have three options for our ascent that will determine the overall diffculty of our journey. Our options include:
- Option 1: Krma Valley Route (Easiest)
Begin the ascent through the Krma Valley, starting with a gradual climb through forested areas. In the afternoon, continue the ascent, reaching the higher alpine meadows. Reach the via ferrata section, which is 400 meters long, and climb it with the guidance of your guide. Arrive at the Kredarica Hut (2,515 m) for an overnight stay.
- Option 2: Vrata Valley Route (Harder)
Start the ascent through the Vrata Valley, which features a steeper climb and rocky terrain. In the afternoon, continue the climb, taking breaks as needed. Reach the via ferrata section, which is 1500 meters long, and climb it with the guidance of your guide. Arrive at the Triglavski Dom na Kredarici (2,515 m) for an overnight stay.
- Option 3: Seven Lakes Route (Scenic and Longest)
Begin the ascent, passing through stunning scenery and several alpine lakes. In the afternoon, continue the climb, taking time to enjoy the scenic views and take breaks as necessary. Arrive at the Prehodavci Hut or the Planika Hut for an overnight stay, depending on the chosen path within the Seven Lakes route.
Day 2: Triglav Summit and Descent
Early in the morning, wake up FOR breakfast at the mountain hut, gathering your energy for the final push to Triglav's summit.
We'll begin ascending the path that will lead us to the highest point in Slovenia at 2,864 meters. Upon reaching the summit, take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the Julian Alps and snap some amazing photos.
As the morning progresses, we'll start our descent back to the mountain hut. We'll arrive at the trailhead by late afternoon and transfer back to Bled or Bohinj.

I am a UIAGM mountain guide, ski instructor and sports teacher and the current president of the Slovenian Mountain Guide Association.
I am still the only guide who can make a living working exclusively in Slovenia. I climb Triglav more than 25 times per year, which means I have climbed the most famous peak in my country over 200 times.
