Description

On this opportunity, I would like to invite you to discover the valleys and meadows around Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy and one of the most popular places in the country.

During this trek, we’ll enjoy hiking across a system of trails that crosses stunning landscapes with a wide variety of vegetation. Also, we’ll get to see interesting historical points, such as old castles and areas used during World War I.

Another attraction of this exciting program will be spending the nights in charming mountain huts, where we’ll taste delicious local meals. Take a look at the bottom of the page for a more detailed description of each day’s itinerary.

As for the difficulty, the level of the program is intermediate and requires a good fitness level. Participants must be able to organize their own backpacks during the hikes.

Itinerary

Day 1: Riva del Garda - Nino Pernici Refuge

From Riva del Garda, we’ll transfer you to Val di Ledro (approx.. 45 min) until Malga Trat (1,502 meters). We’ll go to Bocca di Trat and pass through the Nino Pernici Refuge (1,600 meters). Then, we’ll head south along a panoramic ridge until Bocca di Savàl and reach Cima Pari, at 1,991 meters (1:30 hours). Overnight Nino Pernici Refuge.

Length: 5.7 kilometers.

Duration: 4 hours.

Elevation gain: ↑ 490 m ↓390 m.

Day 2: Lake Tenno - San Pietro Refuge

From the hut, we’ll discover the turquoise waters of Lake Tenno (570 meters), where we’ll share lunch and have the chance to enjoy swimming.

Then, we’ll visit the historic center of Canale di Tenno and reach San Pietro Refuge, where we’ll spend the night.

Length: 11.5 kilometers.

Duration: 7-8 hours.

Elevation gain: ↑ 820 m ↓1450 m.

Day 3: San Giovanni al Monte - Arco

On this day, we’ll ascend to Monte Calino (1,067 meters) and reach San Giovanni al Monte (3 hours). Then, we’ll go downhill and visit the historical sites of Arco.

Accommodation in a hotel in Arco.

There is the possibility to be transferred from San Giovanni al Monte to Arco (extra 25 EUR).

Duration: 7-8 hours.

Elevation gain: ↑ 100 m ↓967 m.

Day 4: Monte Stivo - Marchetti Refuge

On day 4, we’ll transfer you from Arco to Viote del Bondone and enjoy trekking around Monte Cornetto (2,170 meters). Our hike will continue through the trails of Upper Garda area and we’ll discover some of the most beautiful surrounding peaks. We’ll contemplate breathtaking views of Trentino and the Brenta Dolomites on the way and reach Monte Stivo (2,059 meters). After looking at the gorgeous Lake Garda, we’ll head to the Marchetti Refuge (2,015 meters).

Duration: 8 hours.

Elevation gain: ↑ 1680 m ↓1230 m.

Day 5: Monte Altissimo - Damiano Chiesa Refuge

We’ll cross several pastures and woods, and enjoy a delicious lunch in Maso Naranch. In the afternoon, we’ll drive to the slopes of Monte Altissimo and reach its summit (2,053 meters). Then, we’ll head to Damiano Chiesa Refuge.

Length: 14 kilometers.

Duration: 6-7 hours.

Elevation gain: ↑ 430 m ↓1200 m.

Day 6: Monte Baldo - Riva del Garda

On our last day, we’ll go along the ridge of Monte Baldo and explore a beautiful natural area with lovely animals. We’ll descend to Bocca di Navene and then ascend to the Monte Baldo cable car. Finally, we’ll take the cable car and return to Riva del Garda, where we’ll end our program.

Duration: 5 hours.

Elevation gain: ↑ 725 m ↓1000 m.

Mountain Guide

Certified mountain and ski guide and is directing since 15 years the Mountain School Mmove (former Friends of Arco). In the past, his passion had driven him for weeks to the solitude of the Alps, of Patagonia, or of the icy heights of the Karakorum to climb famous walls and peaks and open up new routes.

Today his priorities have moved. He wants to share his enthusiasm for the mountains - while working with his guests and in his spare time with his sons, as his father has once done with him. Mauro Girardi is very proud on its enthusiastic and highly qualified team of local Mountain-and Ski Guides, Hiking Guides and office employees. Mmove is not just a mountain school, but is a steadily growing circle of friends, who would like to realize great experiences. We like to Mmove it !!
