Description

During this incredible 10-day journey, you will have the chance to discover the most spectacular highlights of Chilean and Argentine Patagonia, a region known for awe-inspiring landscapes and natural wonders!

This is a fantastic 10 day program that includes the most famous landmarks in two stunning national parks: Los Glacieres National Park in Argentina, and Torres del Paine National Park in Chile.  You will have the chance to discover Torres del Paine (trekking along the W Circuit), Fitz Roy, Perito Moreno Glacier, and Cerro Torre, to name a few of the highlights of this trip. The journey will combine trekking with other activities, including glacier walking and kayaking on Grey Glacier and Grey Lake (optional activities for an extra charge).

This is not a technical program and no special skills are required. The treks are low to medium difficulty, so some physical fitness is required. We will begin at the airport in Punta Arenas, and end with a transfer to El Calafate.  In between, all accommodations, meals (except one dinner which you have at leisure), and transfers are included in the price.

For the exact details of the itinerary and the many wild landscapes you will visit, please review the day-by-day section below.

Day 2: Torres del Paine

Vehicle transfer to Torres Del Paine National Park (2 hour transfer). From there, we begin our trek in the Ascensio Valley. We follow the trail through a lenga forest. Once we arrive at the moraine, it’s one more hour trekking until the 3 pink granite towers of Torres del Paine become visible above us.

Day 3: French Valley

Following breakfast, vehicle transfer to Pudeto. A catamaran will take us across Pehoe Lake. From there, our trek in the French Valley begins. This is a beautiful valley surrounded by hanging glaciers, towering granite walls, and impressive spires. There are two routes we can take to explore this area of the park: the first involves hiking to British Camp (24km/7-8 hours), and the second to the Main Lookout (16km 5-6 hours).

Lodging: Refugio Nash

Day 4: Grey Glacier

Vehicle transfer with stop at Salto Grande waterfall. We will spend 4 hours trekking around Lake Grey. We will stop at the Glacier Grey viewpoint.

Should you wish, option to go kayaking on the glacier lake (extra charge) in the afternoon. This is a great opportunity to explore the floating icebergs up close, and to see the magnificent Grey Glacier from the water.

Accommodation: Camping Grey (dinner at Grey Lodge).

Day 5: Puerto Natales

In the morning, optional ice hiking excursion (extra charge). You will transfer to Grey Glacier, where you will have a chance to walk on the glacier for about 3 hours using technical equipment. This is a great chance to explore the cracks, tunnels, and lagoons in the glacier.

After lunch, we head out in a catamaran to further explore Grey Lake, sipping on traditional Chilean cocktails served with ice fresh from the glacier, as we observe the many textures of the glacier up close. After the excursion, we head back to Puerto Natales for the night.

Accommodation: Natalino Hotel (or equivalent)

Day 6: Perito Moreno

After breakfast, we head to the Puerto Natales bus station where we take a commercial bus to El Calafate. We arrive at our hotel in El Calafate about 1:30pm. From there, we head out to Perito Moreno glacier for our excursion, walking the footbridges that allow us to observe the glacier from different viewpoints. We return to the hotel where you have the evening free (dinner not included).

Day 7: El Chalten

We depart El Calafate at 8am on a commercial bus to El Chalten. Upon our arrival, we head straight to Los Huemules, where we have several different trekking options to explore one of the wildest areas of Patagonia.

Day 8: Laguna Los Tres, Fitz Roy

After breakfast, vehicle transfer to Hosteria el Pilar. From there, we trek among a lenga forest near the River Blanco, taking the opportunity to discuss the native wildlife along the way. We will also stop at a great viewpoint for Piedras Blancas glacier.

As we trek toward Poincenot Camp, where we will stay for the night, we will have a great view of the famous Fitz Roy and Laguna Los Tres.

Depending on the weather, we will continue to Maestri Viewpoint, which has a great view of Grande Glacier.  We will then take a different route back to El Chalten, trekking along the Fitz Roy River.

Day 10: Depart El Chalten to El Calafate

Mountain Guide

I graduated in Buenos Aires as Universitary proffesional in tourism and as a Mountain Guide in Mendoza province. I started working in adventure activities, horseback riding and mountain ascents. Then i moved to Patagonia that was my dream place for living and thanks to this profession it became in my place for working and personal development.

After several years of experience working in these mountains and numerous trips around the world looking for adventures and experience, I managed to unite both professions in an objective, so Serac Expeditions arose. In the last 15 years working with Serac, I have organized trips for thousands of people and personally guided hundreds of them in diverse and remote places in Patagonia, Chile, Peru and Bolivia.

Today my passion is not only guiding but also organizing special and personalized trips for people who enjoy exploring in nature and at the same time push their limits. My ideal is to provide a safe trip, spend a good time togheter with my clients and be flexible to provide a great experience and memories. To do this I work with a group of guides that share my ideals and way of working.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
