The perfect course in the Beaufortain for a first experience of trail running together with a coach, learning the basics in a progressive way. This course is dedicated to sportive people who wish to discover trail running in a mountain environment.
This trail running course will take place in Beaufortain, in Savoie (French Alps). We will sleep in the same place the 3 days. Then each day we will go for a full or half day of trail running. During this time we learn the basics, train and enjoy the most beautiful landscapes of this region. Besides, we might even see alpine animals like chamois, ibex and marmots.
This 3-day trail running course has the following highlights: – A wild and preserved nature, going off the beaten tracks; – Diverse itineraries to try different types of terrain in the mountain; – A single lodging place; – Incredible panoramas and views; – Great logistics with everything fully organized; – Coached by professionals of trail running and mountain leading.
We will sleep in a traditional hotel in the exceptional area of Beaufortain, in the middle of the village.
In the ‘extra’ section below, you’ll find information about the required trail running level you need to have. You will also see the equipment that you need to bring with you.
During these 3 days we will run on average 15-20km a day and go up from 1000 to 1500 meters. We will alternate between single tracks and large paths.
Please get in touch with me if you want to start trail running. We can then discuss about this specific program or all the others I’m organizing this year. It will be my pleasure to guide you up there in these places which I like so much and coach you in order for you to learn the necessary basics to enjoy trail running in the mountains.
If you are looking for a winter adventure, I can also take you there. Have a look for example at this Winter trail and cross country skiing in Les Saisies.
Meeting point
An early-midday meeting at the hotel for a briefing on how the weekend will unfold. A beautiful loop allows us to discover the breathtaking view of nearby Mont Blanc. We take advantage of a variety of trail trails around the village to run and enjoy the panorama. At our lakes and traditional hamlets, the peaks of the Beaufortain Beaufortain peaks await us for the rest of the weekend. We'll be talking about the downhill technique: what posture to adopt and lose as little energy as possible. At the end of the day, we will have a video session to observe our running attitude and debrief the outing. Then we will have dinner and overnight at the hotel. 12 to 14 km, D+ 950m, D-950m approx.
We will spend a great day out with a picnic to make the most of the wild, mountainous of the wild Beaufortain, Lac de Roselend, Pierra Menta, and Col du Grand Fond. We'll be accompanied by chamois, ibex chamois, ibex, eagles, and lammergeiers. We will have the opportunity to evolve on a varied terrain, alternating wide trails and single tracks to discover what it's like to have "mountain" feet, in complete safety! We'll look at how to use your poles when climbing, and how to optimize the use of poles to save energy. At the end of the afternoon, you can enjoy a massage (option at extra cost and on reservation). We will have dinner and overnight at the hotel. 15 to 19 km, D+ 1300m, D- 1300m approx.
On this last day, we'll be putting into practice all the aspects we've learned and discussed during the weekend: how to walk to last, how to economize on downhill, be efficient on uphill sections, use your poles, control your effort, etc. A 4-hour rando-course outing on the crests will enable us to enjoy the contrasting landscapes of this part of Savoie, where the variety of trails and landscapes are sure to leave their mark. Trail running isn't just about running; it's also about admiring, and taking the time to enjoy the natural surroundings! We will then return to the hotel mid-afternoon, debrief, and have the end of the course (approx. 4 p.m.). approx.) 14 to 16 km, D+ 1000m, D- 1000m approx.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
