Description

The Tour des Periades (Periades Route) is one of the most beautiful alpine routes within the Mont Blanc massif (4,808m), located in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc region, on the border between France and Italy.

The trail is also a perfect destination for off-piste ski touring and snowboarding enthusiasts. It features great snow conditions and backcountry terrain, plus panoramic views to red-orange sharp rugged peaks, glacier fields, and vast snow-covered mountains. Along the way, it offers stunning views to the north face of the Grand Jorasses (4,208m), a group of granite peaks on the northern part of the Mont Blanc massif.

Our trip will begin and end in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (France) or the Courmayeur (Italy) ski areas, at the base of Mont Blanc (4,808m), the highest peak in the Alps and in the whole western Europe. We will start by checking the group’s technical equipment and then taking the Giant Glacier cable car uphill.

We will first splitboard down a part of the Vallée Blanche, one of the most scenic slopes in the Alps, and then skin to the summit of the Périades Glacier. We will traverse along the steep, glacial Brèche Puiseux passage using crampons and ice axes, and then splitboard across the magnificent Mont Mallet glacier. Finally, we will begin our descent down the Vallée Blanche, back to Chamonix or Courmayeur.
