The local IFMGA mountain guide Merlin is organizing a 1-day trip along the Torre Lagoon Trail, near El Chaltén. An unforgettable Patagonian landscape!
1 Day
Jan - Apr, Oct - Dec
During this hiking program I am organizing for next spring and summer, you'll have the chance of visiting one of the most amazing glacial lakes in the Patagonia: the Laguna Torre.
Regarding our itinerary we'll start the trek in El Chaltén early in the morning. Following the famous Torre Lagoon trail for one hour, we will get to the first viewpoint of the day. From there, you'll be astonished by the immensity of the Fitz Roy river valley and the Cerro Torre.
The next stage of the program consists in walking down to the Fitz Roy's main valley. After two more hiking hours we'll be finally at the Laguna Torre. Once there, you can admire one of the most stunning views of the mythical Cerro Torre.
It is also an ideal place to enjoy the landscape offered by the Loma de las Pizarras, the Techado Negro and the Cerro Solo peaks. This last one means a big challenge for those who love mountaineering. If you're one of them let me also invite you to check out my 3-day climbing trip to Cerro Solo or the trek to the Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre base camps.
Returning to the itinerary, we'll have lunch in the Laguna Torre and then walk down back to El Chaltén by the same route. The total activity will take us around 7 hours, arriving in town late in the afternoon.
As for the difficulty level, it is a moderate trek with a total distance of 20 kilometers and an altitude change of 400 meters. With a strong fitness level is more than enough.
If you want to join me on this hiking dream in El Chaltén don't wait any longer. Fill out the form and I'll be in touch with you to plan the trip together.

Mountain Guide
Certified UIAGM-IFMGA Mountain Guide from Argentina.
I live in El Chaltén since 1998. I'm originally from Bariloche and I started with mountain activities when I was 15 years old. I've done climbing and ascents in many mountains of Patagonia, Perú, Bolivia, United States and Europe; such as Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, Alpamayo, El Capitán, Mont Blanc and Aconcagua among others. I'm also a Ski Instructor and I am passionate for backcountry ski.
I speak fluent English, Italian and French and have been leading trips and expeditions for more than 20 years. I work together with a group of guides, so if I'm not available for the trip you request, one of my colleagues will guide you!
