Trolltunga -the Troll’s Tongue- is an impressive rock formation, jutting out from a cliff face into the air, and one of the most spectacular sights in Norway. The Trolltunga hike, starting from Skjeggedal, is an epic day experience and one of the best ways to discover some of the wildest scenery in the country.
This long and demanding hike will take us from 10 to 12 hours, covering in total 28 kilometers (round trip), with an elevation gain of 800 meters. We will be hiking along high-mountain terrain, crossing rock slopes, muddy hills and impressive cliff edges, but you will be absolutely rewarded with breathtaking views along the way.
We will share with you our hiking experience and local knowledge, telling you about the exciting history and stories of this unique area in Norway. Our goal is to ensure you get the most out of this unique hiking adventure.
Once we reach Trolltunga, from the top you will enjoy an amazing view over the Ringedal lake and the Folgefonna glacier. This hike is one of the best ways to experience Norway’s stunning landscapes!
Bear in mind this is a demanding hike, so you need a good fitness level to join us. The best time for this hike is from mid-June until mid-October.

You need to bring: Wind and waterproof clothing - Hiking boots - Base layers/woollen layers - One warm layer - A backpack of minimum 35 litres - A warm hat/beanie - At least one big lunch pack consisting of nutritious and easy to eat food (like sandwiches) -Snacks and protein bars are not real food, but a nice supplement - 1 litre of water - Sunglasses and Sunscreen - Bring all of the above and try to pack as light as possible.
It is possible to rent jackets, pants, boots, and backpacks at the Trolltunga Active Base in Skjeggedal. Hiking poles are included in the price.
Requirements: -Good physical condition. Please inform us of any medical conditions like asthma, epilepsy etc. -This is not a hike for People with troublesome knees -Min. age: 15 yrs.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area.
