Description

No matter in which time of the year you come to the Patagonia. There is a perfect plan both in Argentina and Chile waiting for you. Let's cross the Andes and enjoy the magic of the Chilean volcanoes or the Argentinian landscapes.

That is why I am offering these winter and summer adventures in the Patagonia. During the winter time we can enjoy alpine ski touring and some summit ascents. In the summer it is time to hike through the best trails of the region!

As you can see, there are amazing opportunities all year round in this region. Furthermore, you will learn a lot about the culture of both countries at each side of the Andes mountain range.

I will take you to explore the main volcanoes and hot springs of the area, showing you the differences between Argentina and Chile. You will also enjoy the unique seafood as well as the humid and immense jungle in the Chilean side. The Patagonian Lamb and the drier steppe of the Gaucho lands await in Argentina.

Depending on what you prefer to do, the best months for a winter adventure are September and October. February and March are specially good for hiking trips. Keep in mind that, regardless of the activity, you must have a good physical condition and some previous experience.

At the bottom of the page you will find a sample itinerary. Of course it will vary according to the season of the year.

Argentina and Chile have a lot of options for you. Don't miss the chance to discover them! Fill out the form and get in touch with me. I will be happy to be your guide.

Mountain Guide

UIAGM-IFMGA-IVBV Mountain Guide

My name is Jorge, and I am one of the first IFMGA/UIAGM Certified Mountain Guides in Argentina. I got my full UIAGM-IFMGA certification in 2005. I was one of the pioneer mountain guides in Argentina and Chile to introduce Ski Mountaineering and Backcountry Skiing back in 1999.

In 2009, I became one of the first Argentines to work as a Ski Guide on the Antarctic Peninsula and ski peaks in that area. I helped, co-worked and guided ski athletes from Salomon, Arcteryx, Smith and the North face, such as Xavier de Le Rue, Luca de Bari, Eric Hjorleifson and other pro-athletes of the ski industry in the production of ski films in Argentina and Chile.

I have been guiding across Patagonia for more than 15 years now. In the past few years I have also guided in Antarctica, Norway and Iceland.

Patagonia is my home. This is where I started to develop most of my guiding skills and experiences at an early age. Today, I spend half of the year guiding overseas, and the other half guiding in Argentina and Chile.

Regarding my personal resume as a guide and sportsman, some of the highlights include classic Granite climbs in Yosemite National Park like the Half Dome Regular NW face in a day and Sentinel Rock (Herbert- Chouinard route); several ski mountaineering expeditions to Alaska including the inner Chugach range; the Wrangell's-Saint Elias range, spending two weeks in a tent in the Icefield, skiing couloirs and faces as much as we could. Other great mountaineering expeditions I went on include:
- A remote expedition to Mariano Moreno in the Patagonian Icefield
- Several rock climbs in Europe, like the Dolomites, Slovakia, French and Swiss Alps, and Spain
- Guiding the Mont Blanc ascent on skis
- Technical classic ice/rock Rebuffat- Terray on Pelerins in Chamonix
- Frendo Spur in Chamonix
- Fitz Roy and other satellites spires in Patagonia

I happily spend a lot of my time on skis, and guiding mostly technical backcountry and volcanoes in Patagonia.

I’m fluent in Spanish and English.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
