Summer alpine climbing course in Slovenia, level 2

Summer alpine climbing course in Slovenia, level 2 | undefined

Join Tomaz for an intermediate climbing course in Slovenia. Improve your skills and challenge yourself in the iconic north face of Mt Triglav!

Alpes juliennes

5 Days

Jun - Sep

Description

I propose a 5-day intermediate climbing course in Slovenia aimed to those with previous climbing and mountaineering experience.

The course is a mix of theory and practice. However, the focus is on tours. By challenging yourself in hard rock routes in the Slovenian mountains, you'll enhance your knowledge and improve your climbing skills.

I recommend this course to those which have been doing sport climbing and want to start climbing multipitch sport routes, as well as more difficult and long alpine routes.

By the end of the trip, we'll attempt one of the biggest walls in the Alps: the north face of Mount Triglav. There are more than 100 alpine rock routes there, with different levels of difficulty.

One of the options is to take the easiest route, Slovenska smer (also called Slovenian Route). This route only requires a few pitches of climbing up to grade III and the rest is scrambling. We can also pick a harder route like Nemška smer (German route, III-IV, 1000 m).

No matter what route we choose, climbing the north face of Triglav is always a satisfying experience!

If you want to join me for this summer alpine climbing course in Slovenia, please contact me! We can discuss your best options according to your experience and wishes. I can also offer a shorter version of this course in case you don't have many days.

Besides, if you are planning a trip to Slovenia during winter, you should also consider this winter alpine climbing course.

Mountain Guide

I was born in 1970 in Slovenia and I'm an IFMGA mountain guide since 2003. I started climbing when I was 15 years old at a local climbing club. Since then I became an ambitious and skilled alpinist, having accomplished numerous first ascents in Tien Shan, Himalaya, and Patagonia, and climbed extensively (over 900 alpine routes) in the Himalayas, the Alps, and in both Americas, at the same time working as a full time teacher in Slovenia!

In 2003 I became a full time mountain guide, and since then I've been guiding clients to the hidden gems of Slovenia and other Alpine summits all over Europe. In 2009, I also became the first Slovenian to guide clients up Mt Everest.

I would like to guide and show you the beauties of the hidden areas of Slovenian mountains, let it be in the Julian Alps or Kamnik Alps, away from the crowds. The mountains here are quite steep and dramatic, with sharp ridges, big faces and nice paths in between with some grassy meadows.

Here, it is an ideal field for hut to hut ski touring or free ride day tours or alpinism. It's also an ideal training ground for alpinism courses.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
