Description

It is my pleasure to offer this exciting 4-day splitboarding trip across the Tatras Haute Route. During this 4-day tour, we will explore the spectacular Carpathian Mountains that border Slovakia and Poland.

On this trip, I will guide you through some of the most amazing valleys in the region as we move from hut to hut. As some can be rather steep, this is a suitable trip for experienced skiers and splitboarders. We will discover a variety of terrains with high quality snow. I guarantee you will be amazed by the landscapes of the Tatras.

Our meeting point will be at the Popradské pleso (1245 m) railway station, located in the Prešov Region, in northeastern Slovakia. We will have dinner and rest in comfortable mountain huts every night. For a more detailed description of the trip, take a look at the itinerary below!

At the train stop Popradské pleso.

Itinerary

Day 1: Popradské pleso - Mengusovská valley - Západná Volia štrbina

We will begin our trip at the train stop Popradské pleso (1245 m).

Then we will walk to Mengusovská valley and to Západná Volia štrbina (2355 m). It is the Slovak – Polish state border. After, from the saddle, we will cover a pleasant stretch to the valley and to the hotel at Popradské pleso.

We will sleep at the Mengusovská valley in a mountain hotel – Popradské pleso (1494 m).

Day 2: Zlomiská valley - saddle Východná Železná brána - Kačacia valley - saddle Prielom - Veľká Studená valley - Zbojnícka chata

On day 2, we will continue to the Zlomiská valley. Then we will ascend to saddle Východná Železná brána (2255 m). We will splitboard to the Kačacia valley – a wild part of the High Tatras.
After, we will ride through the Kačacia valley, then climb to the saddle Prielom (2373 m). From the saddle we will ride to the Veľká Studená valley. At the valley we will have dinner and stay overnight in a mountain hut – Zbojnícka chata (1960 m).

Day 3: Saddle Priečne sedlo - Malá studená valley - saddle Baranie sedlo - Veľká Zmrzlá valley - chata pri Zelenom plese

First, we will walk through the valley to the saddle Priečne sedlo (2352 m).

Then we will ride to the Malá studená valley, though it is a bit narrow and the slopes are 45°.
We will walk through the Malá Studená valley. Then we will climb to the saddle Baranie sedlo (2526 m). From Baranie sedlo we will ride to the Veľká Zmrzlá valley. At the top it is rather narrow and the slopes are 45°. We will descend the valley to the mountain hut chata pri Zelenom plese (1551 m). Our descent will be around 900 m of altitude.

Day 4: Červená valley - Jastrabie saddle - Zeleného lesa valley

We will start of by climbing to the Červená valley and then to the Jastrabie saddle (2100 m). From the saddle, we will ride to the Červená valley and to the Zeleného plesa valley. We will have a short break at the hut, then descend to the bus stop Biela voda (925 m).

Mountain Guide

I was born in Poprad and I live, work and relax in the High Tatras. I have been climbing in this region for 15 years both in summer and winter.
Since 2001 I am a professional rescuer with a completed Bachelor education in Urgent Medical Care. Furthermore, I work in The Experts Mountain Rescue Service (in High Tatras) as an avalanche specialist.
In 2009, after passing the entrance examination for mountain guiding, I started the roundabout course. In April 2010, I became a mountain guide aspirant in the National Association of Mountain Guides of the Slovak Republic.
In 2011, during the final course in Chamonix - Mont Blanc (France) I successfully completed the course of mountain guide during four days of tests, under the strict supervision of Technical Commission NAHVSR instructors. Since then, I am a mountain guide with the IFMGA / UIAGM international license.
Thanks to this job (and hobby) I am pleased to expand the horizons of my clients and share with them my knowledge and experience as a mountain guide.
