Description

The Kanin Mountains are a mountain range from the Julian Alps located in the border between Slovenia and Italy. Its highest peak is the Big Mount Kanin with 2,587 meters above sea level. On the Slovenian side, the mountains face the Soča Valley in the Municipality of Bovec.

During the winter the Kanin-Sella Nevea ski resort, the highest ski center in Slovenia, opens up with a wide variety of activities to enjoy. Further, it is very well known due to its huge quantity of natural snow. For this reason, the winter season extends and you can enjoy the snow until May.

The starting point of our snowshoeing day tour will be a small village in the Soča Valley area. Do not forget that I can pick you up in Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin, Trenta, Log pod Mangartom and Sella Nevea. From there we can go to the starting point together.

To take this tour you’ll need a medium technical level. We’ll be walking on snowshoes for about 4 to 5 hours while admiring a wonderful landscape full of snow-covered peaks.

I am the founder of the Gotrek Hiking Company, an outdoor adventure company that offers qualified and professional mountain guiding to domestic and foreign guests and tourists in Slovenia, Italy, Croatia and all over Europe. All climbing, training, trekking, hiking and snowshoeing tours are guided by CMGA certified (Croatian Mountain Guide Association) and UIMLA guide.

I live in Slovenia, a country where mountaineering is a way of life. My team of UIMLA and CMGA guides and instructors works and lives in Slovenia or Croatia. If I am not available to guide you, one of the experienced guides in my team will be your guide.
