Jura

3 Days

Jan - Apr, Dec

Description

The highest summits of the Jura mountains are between Bellegarde and the Faucille Pass… This barrier between the Alps and Jura can be crossed through with semi autonomy.

The accommodation along the route is more spartan than elsewhere (unguarded on day 1). Therefore, it requires semi autonomy: bring food and a duvet…

I propose to accompany you in this adventure, through the crest of the ridge for an unforgettable experience!

Discover this exceptional frame during this trip in  semi-autonomy. It's an adventurous trip!

Do you want more information about this incredible trip in the mountains? Then please get in touch with me! It will be a pleasure for me to accompany you in the discovery of this beautiful region.

Are you looking for a snowshoeing trip in more comfort? I can also take you on this 4-day tour in the high valleys of Jura!

Price includes

- Accommodation included

- Guiding fee

- Transportation start and back

Itinerary

Day 1: Meeting at Menthières* - La Poutouille - Gralet Refuge

In numbers: 6,5 km / Altitude max. 1455 m / Altitude change +450/-135m
Night at the unguarded Gralet Refuge (bring 1 duvet + food for dinner D1 + lunch for D2).
* Possibility to meet at the train station Bellegarde s/ Valserine

The meeting point is at the Menthières ski resort. We meet and verify the equipment, and then we start our trip heading to the Gralet refuge where we spend the first night. The profile of this first day is calm enough to meet and warm up for the training hike. Indeed, we arrive early to the Gralet refuge where we will enjoy a heated place.

Day 2: Gralet Refuge - la Marie du Jura - Reculet Summit - Crêt de la Neige - Ratou refuge

In numbers: 10.965 km / Altitude max. 1720 m / Altitude change +455 m/-460 m
Lunch taken with you (autonomy), half board accommodation at the Ratou Refuge in the evening.

This is the fantastic ride in the sky with the most “technical” passages. Our progress on the crest of the ridge leads us to the two highest peaks in the Jura mountains: the Reculet and Crêt de la Neige. If the weather conditions are good, you will enjoy the beautiful views of the Alps, the “secret canyons” of Crêt de la Neige and magnificent mountain pines that mark out our route. If the weather is not so pleasant, it will be an opportunity to live an adventure in a polar atmosphere. An unforgettable experience!

Day 3: Ratou refuge - Colomby de Gex - Grand Montrond -Faucille Pass / Return to the departure point (car/taxi)

In numbers: 11.135km / Altitude max. 1672 m / Altitude change +423m/-532m
Lunch: snacks from the bag (Ratou refuge).

Third and last part of our fantastic ride. We’ll climb to the summit of the high mountain chain and we continue our progression that is a little easier today because the peaks are more “rounded”. Perhaps we shall have the chance to observe wildlife, normally quite abundant in this area. We finally arrive to the Faucille Pass after climbing some nice bumps with incredible views: the Mont Blanc has no secrets for us! Finally, we will organize the return to the starting point.

Mountain Leader

I discovered the joy of the mountains at a very young age, and I knew that my place was there, in the Jura, the Alps, or elsewhere, but in a place where raised terrain allows to go high...
My experience in the Mountain Troops and the Gendarmerie, together with a regular practice of different mountain sports, allowed me to gain knowledge and know-how that enriched my mountain leader training.
In 2012 I got certified as State Mountain Leader (AEM), which allowed me to start fully living my passion for the mountain, and sharing it with you.
I propose to share very varied activities: walking ,hiking, trekking, snowshoeing. It allows me to enjoy precious moments in nature with you.
To complement my leader training, I discovered trail running 8 years ago, a more sportif and intense way to discover the mountain, always respecting the environment.
I can also offer you my expertise in Morocco, where I have been going often during these last years. My knowledge of the field and of the local correspondants allows me to propose magnificent journeys to you!
From the Jura to the Alps, not forgetting Pyrenees, Corsica and Morocco, my approach to the mountain has always been guided by the search of pleasure and the comprehension of the environment.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
