In this 4-day trip perfectly adapted to beginners, Lucas, UIMLA mountain leader, will take you snowshoeing along the stunning Jura high valleys.

Jura

4 Days

Jan - Apr, Dec

Description

The high valleys of the Jura mountains, between Lajoux and La Pesse, in France, are ideal for snowshoeing since the slopes are quite gentle.

The network of cottages is also a great advantage in this region. It allows us to follow nice itineraries enjoying the softness and roundness of the curves…

The environment and the landscapes are truly exceptional. This trip is completely adapted for a first approach to winter trail. Indeed, it’s the perfect trip for snow-lover beginners.

We meet at the Vie Neuve cottage and organise our equipment. Then we start walking to some of my favourite places, from where the views are incredible. During this day we cross Bellecombe, an emblematic High Jura valley. The highlight here is the softness and harmony of the landscapes.

Today is a panoramic day because we walk on a magnificent ridge line. I chose it due to its wild and aesthetic nature. We have lunch at the Borne au Lion. Then, depending on the level of the group, if you want we may go to the conquest of the Crêt de Chalam, historic and charismatic!

Day 3: Borne au Lion - Crêt du Nerbier - Combe aux Bisons - Les Mouilles

Lunch at the farmhouse inn La Combe aux Bisons / La Pesse, visiting the farm, overnight in cottage (half board)

Another beautiful path through the meadows until La Pesse and La Combe aux Bisons, which we visit and where we have lunch. Before that, we will have climbed the Crêt de Nerbier that offers breathtaking views. After lunch, we take a new path to reach our accommodation.

Day 4: Les Mouilles - Les Moussières - Combe au Prost - Les Molunes

Lunch on the way or at Les Moussières, it’s possible to spend the night at the Vie Neuve cottage (half board)

This is the last day of our adventure through the soft landscapes of the High Jura. The discovery is constant since we keep going off the beaten tracks! We will pass near the Moussières cheese dairy. Mountain Leader

I discovered the joy of the mountains at a very young age, and I knew that my place was there, in the Jura, the Alps, or elsewhere, but in a place where raised terrain allows to go high...
My experience in the Mountain Troops and the Gendarmerie, together with a regular practice of different mountain sports, allowed me to gain knowledge and know-how that enriched my mountain leader training.
In 2012 I got certified as State Mountain Leader (AEM), which allowed me to start fully living my passion for the mountain, and sharing it with you.
I propose to share very varied activities: walking ,hiking, trekking, snowshoeing. It allows me to enjoy precious moments in nature with you.
To complement my leader training, I discovered trail running 8 years ago, a more sportif and intense way to discover the mountain, always respecting the environment.
I can also offer you my expertise in Morocco, where I have been going often during these last years. My knowledge of the field and of the local correspondants allows me to propose magnificent journeys to you!
From the Jura to the Alps, not forgetting Pyrenees, Corsica and Morocco, my approach to the mountain has always been guided by the search of pleasure and the comprehension of the environment.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
