Learn all the necessary skills and techniques to get the most from the Julian Alps.

If you want to feel the freedom of skiing in the amazing Slovenia mountains, then you must make a commitment to do it safely. That’s why I want you to participate in this ski touring introduction course.

This 5-day ski touring introduction course will be focused on the most important techniques of skiing, avalanche management and terrains reading. Furthermore, I will provide all the equipment to guarantee the safest experience.

Please find then, the itinerary of this ski touring learning trip in Slovenia.

Day 1

I will teach you the basis of ski touring and freeride skiing so that you can understand the importance of avalanche management. After that, you have a thorough avalanche training. At the end of the day you will be able to do some ski runs under my supervision.

Day 2

I will divide this day in the two Ski touring stages: Ascent and descent. First, it’s important to learn the necessary skills to climb up in an efficient way. By “efficient” I mean looking for the best ascent version for each person. Therefore, it will be an individual work to find the most suitable ascent techniques for you.

Once you reach at the top of the mountain, the second stage starts. It’s time for descent. And let me tell you the only secret to learn to ski is practicing and practicing. That’s what we’ll do!

Days 3 to 5

Although the theory is important, you will take the best from this course once you face the different terrains, snow and weather conditions. There is an option to extend this course some more days in order to practice and improve your newly acquired skiing skills. Do not hesitate to ask me about it.

Mountain Guide

I grew up in Slovenia with Julian Alps as my backyard. Expeditions to Himalaya started when I was 17, started steep skiing at 15, climbing big walls at 13 and it was a natural progression to BASE jump and to become a mountain guide- a job that feeds my soul. I have been to several climbing expeditions to Peru, Kyrgyzstan, Tibet, Nepal and India.

I'm an IFMGA qualified mountain guide as well as an instructor for future guides, ski instructor, certified helicopter operator and a Heli Ski guide. Although my work took me all over the world my favorite place is still in the Julian Alps. Sharing the hidden places in my Home Mountains with my clients, guiding and teaching them to explore on their own is has been my biggest passion for the past few years.

Mountains are my passion. Winter or summer, climbing, flying through the air or skiing, it doesn't matter to me if I am guiding or having fun with friends. I simply get spaced out when I am in the mountains. Guiding for me is not a job - it is a state of mind and a lifestyle.
