Description

Once the meca of Icelandic herring, Siglufjörður, also called Sigló, is now a dream ski town in Iceland. With both mountain and sea, it is an enticing spot that will charm anyone willing to explore it. On this ski touring trip to Siglufjörður, we take you on an amazing journey where you will be able to enjoy the wonders of these magical seaside mountains!

Of course, the highlight of our trip to this unique little fishing town will be skiing. The amazing summits are very close to the oceans so the snow settles very quickly. Additionally, there is both steep and slightly gentler slopes depending on the mood of the day. Snow conditions also vary so you will get both ski powder and spring snow! Skiing however will not be the only highlight of our trip.  We will also be able to spend some time in the hot springs, and visit the Herring museum!

In terms of accommodation, we will be staying in a charming two house guest house run by a sweet couple that are very welcoming. Furthermore, we will also have two vans to assist us every day. This is in case some want to spend some more time skiing, and others less. This also means that although we require a good level of fitness, there is room in the group dynamic to adapt to different levels, personal preferences or needs.

Are you ready for the ski trip of your dreams? Then book your place now and join us on this amazing Icelandic adventure! I will be happy to show you this beautiful and magical location!

Would you like to explore a more traditional ski venue in the Swiss Alps? Then make sure to book your place for a week long off-piste skiing tour in Verbier this winter!

Mountain Guide

I was born in a small ski village in the Swiss Alps and was immersed in the climbing culture through my parents at a young age. After three years competing in the ice climbing world cup and after graduating from law school, I decided to pursue climbing professionally, both as a guide and as a professional alpinist.

My passion for everything relating to the mountains - alpine climbing, ice climbing, skiing, skimo races, rock climbing, etc. - has taken me all over the world, doing first ascents and repeated beautiful climbs in places such as Canada, Ethiopia, Norway, Jordan, Iceland, Antarctica, Morocco, Thailand and more. But some of my greatest climbs have been here in the Alps, climbing the north faces of the Eiger, Matterhorn, Grandes Jorasses and Drus, or Beyond Good and Evil in Chamonix. What I love most though is climbing big frozen waterfalls.

Through guiding, I get to share my love for the mountains, as well as my skills and knowledge with guests around the world, in the alpine, on ice, rock or on skis. What I love about my job in the Alps is that I get to speak so many different languages - English, French, Italian, German - as the mountains sit on or close to borders.

The mountains are my passion and have been my way of life for most of my life. It is a community I am proud to belong to. And on this journey, I have met my husband and fellow mountain guide, Adam. We love working together. We live in Finhaut - a small Swiss village right the French-Swiss border between Chamonix and Verbier - with our lovely daughter Olivia. We have access to beautiful climbing and ski touring right from our doorstep and are close to world class terrain in France, Switzerland and Italy in a matter of minutes!

When I am not guiding, I play for myself in the mountains, work on translations, blog and love to rediscover the wonders of the world through the eyes of my daughter.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
