Welcome to an amazing ski touring program in the Cerro Vespignani.
It's an honor for me to invite you to this unforgettable ski experience. The Cerro Vespignani is 2,146 meters high and is a popular summit in the region. That is because the ascent does not involve great difficulties although good physical training is necessary. Its vertical drop once at the top is about 1500 meters long.
The Vespignani has really high-quality snow, perfect for the practice of cross country skiing and snowboarding. In addition, from the summit, there is a breathtaking panoramic view of the Fitz Roy massif and the Continental Ice Field.
As for our itinerary, we'll start driving early in the morning from El Chaltén to the Lago Del Desierto. Once in the parking lot, we must walk for an hour to the foot of the Huemul Glacier. We'll then continue ascending to the summit. It will take around 6 or 7 hours to reach up there. After a short rest, comes the best part! Time to ski down the slopes of the Cerro Vespignani. It will take us 2 hours to get back to the base and get to the parking lot again. Finally, we will drive back to El Chaltén, reaching there by the afternoon.
This ski tour is suitable for experienced skiers. Although the ascent to the summit is not technically difficult, you'll need a good fitness level. A ski touring background is also mandatory.
I can lead a group of 4 participants maximum. The best season to come to this region is from July till October, during the winter. And if you want more ski touring adventures in the area, you can join me on this 8-day ski tour on Chile’s volcanoes.
So, I will be waiting for you. Just book your place and we'll discuss and plan the adventure together!

Certified UIAGM-IFMGA Mountain Guide from Argentina.
I live in El Chaltén since 1998. I'm originally from Bariloche and I started with mountain activities when I was 15 years old. I've done climbing and ascents in many mountains of Patagonia, Perú, Bolivia, United States and Europe; such as Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, Alpamayo, El Capitán, Mont Blanc and Aconcagua among others. I'm also a Ski Instructor and I am passionate for backcountry ski.
I speak fluent English, Italian and French and have been leading trips and expeditions for more than 20 years. I work together with a group of guides, so if I'm not available for the trip you request, one of my colleagues will guide you!
