As a local guide with vast experience in the Peruvian Andes I can assure that Santa Cruz is one of the most famous hiking circuits in Cordillera Blanca. It’ll be a honor for me to guide you there!
If you don’t want to spend several days in the mountains o have a limited period of time to stay in the country, you should join me on this 4-day trek. Its natural beauty and breathtaking landscapes form the perfect setting to enjoy a hike among Andean peaks of more than 6,000 meters of height.
The Santa Cruz Llanganuco trekking tour is the most well-known and classic trek in the Cordillera Blanca.
It has a breathtaking beauty, ideal for people who don't want to spend too much time in the mountains or only a limited amount of days. It is a trek where you can see many mountains over 6000 m, and enjoy magnificent sunsets.
More information about itinerary, accommodation and departures will be provided once you contact me. I’ll be waiting for your message!
Duration: 4 1/2 hours (by car), 4 - 5 hours (trek)
We will pick you up at your hotel in Huaraz at 6:00am then we will travel through the Callejon de Huaylas valley to Yungay. Here we will take the detour to the east side to enter the Huascaran National Park. On the way we will pass by the Llanganuco Lagoons where the vehicle will stop to take some pictures.
Later we will have another stop at the Portachuelo viewpoint before crossing the pass. After a long descent we will arrive to Vaqueria, where our muleteers are waiting for us and they will load their donkeys, while you put on your hats and sunscreen, take some water and ready for our first day of trekking.
Today we hike to Paria camp (3800 m), in approximately 4-5 hours, arriving at the camping area around 4 to 5 pm. By now we reach our campsite, but the donkeys and muleteers have overtaken us because they are fast and strong, and have set up camp where tea and mate is waiting for us.
Duration: 7 hours approx.
From Paria we walk a long zig zag trail for approximately 4 hours to the highest point of the entire trek called Punta Union at 4,750 meters above sea level. The views of the valleys from up there are spectacular. After taking pictures and a short break, we descend to our next camp called Taullipampa (4,250 m) which is located in a strategic point surrounded by mountains like Taulliraju, Artesonraju, Alpamayo, Pukajirca south.
Duration: 5 hours approx.
The third day of our hike is purely easy, as we follow a horizontal trail to the viewpoint of the Alpamayo Mountain, here after a short rest and take many pictures we have the option to go to the base camp and even to a lagoon called Arhuaycocha which is located just below the Pukajirca massif. Then we will descend along the ravine and pass by the Jatuncocha lagoon which is the largest of the Santa Cruz trek.
Later we will arrive at our campsite in Llamacorral at 3 pm approx.
Duration: 3 hours (trekking), 3 hours (car)
The fourth and last day we walk only 2.5 to 3 hours to the village called Cashapampa. On the way we will see many houses of the farmers and the village, many children playing around. Animals often cross our path and claim their right of way. In about 10 AM we take our private transport to Huaraz. Arrival in Huaraz.

Mountain Leader
I like mountains and I love nature, I practice cycling and hiking, I know very well the hiking trails of Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash.
The passion for nature was my inspiration to study Official Tourist Guide. I am experienced in travel organisation and logistics, especially adventure travel.
At present I’m a logistics manager at a travel agency with German clients, and I also have my own agency where I take care of the organisation of the adventure trips (trekking, mountaineering, mountain bike and day hikes).

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
