This incredible region near San Sebastian in Bilbao, offers incomparable options for rock climbing. Whether you want to climb by the coast, getting breathtaking views of the ocean, or inland to enjoy mesmerizing mountainous sceneries, this place has it all!

Furthermore, as the options here are endless, they welcome every type of climber. So, if you are looking to challenge your skills as an expert, or to improve them as a beginner, you’ll find what you’re looking for.

Some of the places we can visit are the following:

Ogoño
This magnificent location lies right above the Laga beach. So you will get the most hypnotizing views of the water, in a magical environment.

Atxarte
This alpine valley in Vizcaya offers incredible options for sport climbing. Also you’ll encounter long routes and gerat rock quality, ideal for different styles of climbing.

Ranero
This marvellous places near Bilbao offers amazing climbing routes. And you’ll encounter a similar quality of rock like the one in Picos de Europa or the Pyrenees, but without the crowds that visit those places.

Sport climbing
Another options I offer, is taking you to the best spots for rock climbing in Atxarte, Mugarra, Ramales, Etxauri or Valdegobia.

Mountain Guide

AEGM Mountain Guide from Spain

Passionate for mountains since I was a kid, at 14 I started climbing in Atxarte (Vizcaya) walls, thanks to some friends. Later I discovered other activities such as canyoning, skiing and ice climbing, which allowed me to enjoy mountains both in summer and in winter.

I travelled around Europe, USA, India, Peru, Marruecos, among others, with the excuse of climbing some peak, wall, or doing some canyoning.

I've been a member of the 'Young Alpinists Technification Team' of the Basque Mountain Federation, and after gaining experience in all mountain disciplines I left behind my job as electronic technician to become a guide in order to pass on my passion and knowledge to others.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger.
