Description

Bariloche is one of the most iconic parts of Patagonia and now you can climb one of its most renowned mountains. Mount Lopez is impressive to behold, rising to 2,075m above sea level it looms over the surrounding landscape!

Even without climbing this amazing rock face, just basking in the wild natural beauty of the region is worth the visit. You have endless alpine mountains, sky blue lakes and the interesting town of Bariloche to explore.

We will take ourselves to the north face of Mount Lopez and discover its impressive rock faces, where many routes have been established. There are multi-pitch routes that run across the many fissures and climbing features.

There are numerous routes over 150 mts and you can even combine different routes to climb even further.

The views you will enjoy on the rock face are sublime and it’s a must to take some photos of this!

There are climbing options for every level, so whether you are a beginner or accomplished climber you will have plenty to enjoy.

I created many of these routes and guide many climbs on this rock face, so I know it inside out.

We will head out from Bariloche in the morning towards Bahia Lopez (Lopez bay) about 30km away. Then from parking the car it’s about a 30 minute walk to the wall depending on where you want to go.

This is your trip, so I will use my intimate knowledge of the area to select the best locations for your level and preferences!

Mountain Guide

AAGM-certified high mountain guide with international IFMGA certification, paragliding pilot (with tandem license) and physical education teacher.
I have made numerous climbs, ascents and ski trips in Patagonia, Mendoza, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Spain and the French Alps.
I work as an instructor and director in numerous mountain guide courses for the AAGM. I have opened many sport and multi-pitch routes in the Bariloche area and I am also author of climbing guide "Bariloche Vertical", published five times since 2004. In sport climbing I reach the grade of 8b worked and 7c on sight.
As a paragliding pilot, I have made numerous +100 kms flights in the mountains of Patagonia and several "hike and fly" tours, where I combine climbing mountains and flying down.
