Description

Down in the far southeast of France is the breathtaking Maritime Alps, that forms a natural border between France and northwestern Italy.

The mountains here present superior opportunities for rock climbing, which is the most southern section of the Alps.

On the French side, the picture-perfect peaks and valleys are protected within the Mercantour National Park, which stretches across the 2 departments of Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

Standing at the core of the national park are high mountain peaks, including the world-class Vallée des Merveilles (Valley of Marvels).

Come to the rugged territory and get to grips with some of the best rock climbing opportunities in the Alps.

Outside of the national park are scattered excellent spots. The Esterel Massif guards the waters of the Mediterranean, with its high and red rocks of volcanic origin.

The beautiful Gorges of Siagne reveal steep and rocky formations that is carpeted in rich forest. Discover its caves and cascades as well as rock climbing.

The river canyon of the Verdon Gorge is one of Europe’s finest and holds breathtaking beauty. Considered to be the second biggest canyon in the world, it has a first-rate reputation for rock climbing.

The gorgeous Gorge du Loup holds wonderful waterfalls and large boulders, while the commune of Saint-Auban is the ideal springboard to explore the rocky region that dominates the town, offering spectacular views.

My name is Fred and I am an instructor and a mountain guide from France. I have been passionate about mountains and nature since I was a kid.

After a few years in college studying communication, I started skiing and mountaineering in some of the most popular areas in the Alps, such as the Hautes-Alpes and Savoie. My experience includes different skiing and mountaineering trips across Europe, mountain biking around Iceland, expeditions in yurts and bivouacs, ski touring, canyoning, caving and kayaking, among many others.

As the founder of Caps - Aventure, I offer a wide variety of programs in natural areas as well as specialized courses. I am committed to sharing my passion with others and I focus my experiences in discovering and exploring new environments through sport.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
