Description

The Road of 52 tunnels, built in 1917, is now 100 years old! And to celebrate this, I invite you to this fantastic 1-day trek.

This road of tunnels on the rocky south walls of Mount Pasubio, in Veneto, was built during WWI, and it's of course full of history. Every step of this road is full of traces and memories, and each year thousands of hikers come to walk the path built by the soldiers on the rock heart of the mountain.

At the end of 1917, in the middle of one of the coldest winters of the century, the 33rd Mining Company of the Italian Army started building a new military road. They were climbing up on a completely unknown section of the mountain. It was wild, with high cliffs and narrow gorges. In fact, it was a territory with no trails and no topographical surveys available.

The result of these men's work is an incredible road wth 52 tunnels. Near the top, it will lead us to Rifugio Papa, with wonderful views on the surrounding mountains and Vicenza's flats.

I really like guiding my friends and clients on this trek because:
– it's unique in the world,
– it's full of history and in a great environment,
– you must see this place at least once in your life!

If you are planning on arriving the night before we start the trek, I can take care of booking a nice hotel nearby. We can meet there. And if you need information on how to get there from Venice airport I will be happy to show you the options.

Besides, if you need any tips for your Venice experience, just ask me (I lived there for two years)!

Tempted to walk this historical path? Then please send me a request and join in! And if you are looking for a longer hike, I can also take you on the Dolomites Haute Route.

Mountain Leader

My love for the mountains grew up with me in the flats of Romagna, thanks to my family that let me spent all my vacations in the Dolomites when I was a child. The Dolomites and the mountains between Romagna and Tuscany are the most vivid memories I have of my childhood.
Then I forgot the outdoors for a few years, and spent some time following the other great passion I have: travelling. When I wasn't at school I spent all my time wandering from one hostel to the other all around Europe with my best friend, always searching for new landscapes and new emotions.
I graduated from high school as Business and Programming Consultant, then I completely changed my core subject as I attended the Undergraduate Courses in Anthropological Sciences at Bologna's University. My thesis project brought me back to the mountains, with a research in Landscape and Disaster Anthropology that took me to Erto for the fieldwork, the town where I spent the last six years!
After that I attended the Graduate Courses in Cultural Anthropology, Ethnology and Ethnolinguistics at Ca'Foscari University in Venice, and this time I wrote a thesis on Alpinism. The subject was again Landscape and Risk Anthropology, but this time fieldwork took me to all the best climbing sites in Europe and beyond: Mont Blanc, Arco, Siurana, Montserrat, Elbsandsteingebirge, Céüse, Osp, the Todra Gorge in Morocco and other more...
Once finished with University I decided to turn my passion into a profession, so I took part in the selection for the courses organized by the UIAGM Mountain Guide's Association, and after a year of hiking and studying I became a Mountain Leader.
Now I take other people with me to discover the wonderful vertical world of our mountains, and enjoy the great times together in the outdoors.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
