Description

Queyras has a high quality terrain for the practice of ski touring. Besides, it is a perfect area to ski from hut to hut while we look for the best descents.

Queyras is a valley and a regional park located in France, in a forgotten corner of the Alps. Although this area has no high peaks, its mountains are rough and stunning, giving you the sensation of being in a real alpine terrain.

What I am offering you today is a 5-day guided ski touring trip among the best slopes of Queyras. An adventure ideal for advanced skiers who enjoy powder snow.

Due to climate and mountains conditions, the program can suffer some changes. This means that the route can be modified during the week as required to optimize safety and enjoyment. Keep this in mind when you read the day-by-day description below.

The minimum participants to run this trip is 3 people. My guests will need to have prior skiing experience in different kinds of snow. Some previous ski touring is also a plus.

If you want to know next departures or book your place, please feel free to contact me now. You can ask me any doubt you have and we’ll discuss which is the best option for you. I await your message anxiously.

Itinerary

Day 1: The day before

Our meeting point will be in St. Veran the day before. On this day, we will also discuss the week and check the equipment. We’ll spend the night there in St. Veran.

Day 2: Some ski touring

On the first day we’ll do a tour to find our ski-legs and get some nice turns. Moreover, we’ll also practice some transceiver searches and kickturning skills.

Day 3: Agnel Hut

Time to take a high lift and ski to Pic de Chateau Renard. From here, there is a nice long descent with a good chance of powder snow leading down into the valley. After that, we’ll ascent to the Agnel Hut where we’ll spend the night.

Day 4: Pointe Sagnes Longues

Today’s objective offers a lot of options. One of them is crossing the Col de Chamoussier Pass and then skinning to Pointe Sagnes Longues. There we can enjoy another great powdered descent to return to the valley. After that, we’ll take last section of yesterday’s route and stay in Agnel Hut again during the night.

Day 5: Arbries Village

On this day we’ll try to get to Arbries Village. From the hut we’ll skin up to Col de l’Eychassier. From there we’ll descend by a short but nice run into a remote valley. If our physical resistance is good we may made a side-trip up Pic Segure. It will give us the fantastic and long descent down to Ristollas village. From there we have a 10-minute ride by bus to Arbries. Overnight staying in there.

Day 6: Last day

Last day of this ski touring trip. We’ll take a lift as high as possible in order to skin up to a ridge crest and, in consequence, to a great ski run. Then, we move to La Mait d’Amunt for a last and sustained descent back down to the valley. Finally, we will get to Arbries again by bus and from there, to St. Veran where the program finishes.

Mountain Guide

I was born in 1979, grew up in Albertslund, just outside Copenhagen. I started climbing when I was 14 years old and I was immediately gripped by it. In 2000 I became a Rock Climbing Instructor (AK) and shortly after, in 2001, I moved to Canada to go to school - I took a degree in "Adventure Tourism". The real reason I traveled to Canada was the mountains and nature. The years I lived in Canada I used to develop my skills as a climber and alpinist. I also began training to become an international mountain guide. Since I have returned to Europe, where I have spent time climbing, skiing and being on tour. I have also completed my degree and I'm now internationally recognized as mountain guide and a professional working in the various mountain activities. During my years in the mountains, my passion for climbing and skiing have become stronger and stronger. As a guide and instructor, I hope to get the chance to share my passion and experience with you!

What people are saying about Explore-Share

Man

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Cami

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
