Highlights

* Spend 9 days ski touring in the Troll Peninsula of northern Iceland.

* Venture from village to village, sleeping in different lodges and refuges.

* Descend a number of amazing, isolated peaks.

Description

There really isn’t anywhere in the world quite like Iceland. And when it comes to the northern area of the country, in particular the Troll peninsula, you will see exactly why that is.

On this 9 day adventure, you will get to ski tour amidst some truly stunning scenery. You will get to enjoy the unique half-marine, half-Arctic environment. And you will get to see, scale and descend on a number of incredible peaks.

Much of the ski touring will take place in the more isolated areas of northern Iceland. As a result, you will rarely, if ever have to worry about crowds. Instead, you will get to completely lose yourself in the seemingly endless collection of peaks, valleys and fjords. And at night, you will get to comfortably rest and relax in an array of different lodges and refuges.

During this excursion, you will see why more and more skiing enthusiasts are visiting Iceland. It is filled with fantastic views, and some unforgettable descents. A few examples of the peaks you will get to climb and ski down include the Kotarhnukur peakSkalavikurknukur and the Lambaskalar summit. Moreover, you will get to visit some wonderful local villages, including Siglufjordur, Olafjordur, Dalvik and Greynevik.

To participate you should have prior ski mountaineering experience and be in good physical condition.

As varied as it is marvelous, this 9 day ski touring trip in northern Iceland will fulfill any skiing ambitions you may have. If you would like to enjoy it for yourself, all you have to do is send me a request.

I also lead a 15 day ski touring adventure in the Altai mountains on the border between China and Mongolia as well.

Mountain Guide

I have been a mountain guide since I was 25 years old. My passion for discovering the mountains of the world has led me to the four corners of the earth. Currently, I am also an instructor at the National School of Skiing and Mountaineering (ENSA).

Each year, I organize different trips. I'm in charge of each trip's organization and I'm sometimes also the guide who leads the group. It could either be me or one of my 4 guide friends, who I have been working with for years.

I have been organizing trips around the world for the past 26 years: Alaska, Antractica, Nepal, Mongolia...Over the years, I have organized trips in more than 30 countries.

In recent years I have had the opportunity to discover:
- Ski traverse in Greenland
- Ski touring in Iran, Lebanon, Mongolia, Argentina, Canada
- Climbing in the Yukon at the Lotus Flower, Jordan, Oman
- The high summits of Sichuan, Kula Kangri in Tibet, Langtang Ri in Nepal

I am currently based in Chamonix and the other 3 guides who work with me live nearby as well. If you are interested in traveling far away or discovering the Mont Blanc massif and other places in the Alps, for climbing, ski touring or ice climbing, please contact me. It will be a pleasure for me to organise a trip that meets your expectations.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
