Join me on this Niseko Haute Route for fantastic ascents and descents during the day and also relaxing evenings in the local hot springs!
With this ski touring classic, you’ll get to know the backcountry terrain of the Niseko mountain range, in the Japanese island of Hokkaido, like if you were a local.
During this 3-day trip, we’ll go from the Niseko mountains to Iwanai village, located by the sea.
Curious to know more about the itinerary? On the first day, we’ll meet at Niseko Moiwa ski resort for a short briefing. From there, we’ll go to Goshiki Hot Springs, from where we’ll climb Mt. Iwaonupuri (1116m) and then ski back down. We’ll have dinner at Goshiki Hot Spring and spend the night there.
On the second day, we’ll do a traverse from Mt. Nitonupuri (1083m) to Mt. Chisenupuri (1134 m) to Mt. Shakunage (1074 m) and finally arrive to Niimi Hot Springs. We’ll have a relaxing evening in the village and afterwards spend the night in Konbu Hot Springs.
And then, during the third and last day, we’ll cross Mt. Mekunnai (1220m) and Mt. Iwanai (1085m) to get to Iwanai village. From there, we’ll head back to Niseko Moiwa, where our tour ends.
You need to have intermediate to advanced ski touring skills to participate in this program. I will take a maximum of 4 people with me. However, for parties of 5 or more, another guide can join the group.
I can guarantee an amazing three days! I offer this itinerary only in the spring from mid March to May. Come from mid-March to mid-April to find the best snow conditions and particularly stable weather.
So contact me now and we’ll start planning your visit to the beautiful island of Hokkaido. The Niseko Haute Route will be a memorable experience!

If I'm not available, one of my colleagues will be happy to be your guide. All the guides I work with are appropriately certified and have extensive knowledge of the area (2 are Austrian ski instructors and 1 is a JMGA ski guide).
For beginners, I can teach you how to use avalanche gear, ascent gear and how to ski in powder snow. Don't hesitate to contact me as I can design a tour adapted to your level.

Ski Guide
Hello! I’m a qualified Austrian mountain ski guide, a ski instructor as well as a alpine and ski guide with the Japan Mountain Guide Association (JMGA). I’ve lived 7 years in Austria, mainly as a ski instructor. I then became a mountain ski patrol in Tateyama in Japan, a heli ski guide in New Zealand, a chief guide at Niseko Hanazono Powder Guides, an assistant director of Niseko International snow sports school, and ultimately have started ski guiding independently since 2013.
I value the fundamentals of skiing as sports; to enjoy the snow mountains in a stylish, free and safe manner, in both private and as work. The best outcome is when both the client and guide can have fun, and for this, I am quite particular about not only guiding but also in technical / skills aspects and selection of appropriate equipment. I am an alpine skier but also enjoy telemark skiing. In summer, I have enjoyed surfing for a long time. Whether it be on waves, on mountains or on asphalt, if there’s enough steepness then I love to ‘glide’, which is my motto.
Please join me in gliding my backyard - which is the front and backcountry of Niseko!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
