Description

If you are in the area of Barcelona and want to leave the city to be in contact with nature, you cannot miss this program! I organize rock climbing trips in Montserrat, only 1 hour away from the vibrant city.

Montserrat is a famous massif located in central Catalonia. It is shaped like a large saw, which is where its name comes from in Catalan. It is composed of many summits with a rounded shape. The walls are very steep and there are no sharp edges.

There are many climbing options in this massif. Indeed, there are 12 main climbing ranges. In each of them the opportunities for multi-pitch rock climbing are vast, and there is overall something for every level. The North face of Montserrat has the largest concentration of impressive walls. It is ideal for intermediate/advanced multi-pitch rock climbing.

It can also be a good chance to see the renown Montserrat monastery. And being so close to Barcelona, this destination is convenient in every sense!

Tempted to join me for some fantastic rock climbing in Montserrat? Then please send me a request indicating your level so we can decide together on the ideal route for you and your group. And if you want to further explore Catalonia, check out this beautiful hike in Pedraforca, a very special mountain.

FAQs

When do you recommend coming climbing?

You can come anytime. The experience is better during week days because there are fewer people climbing, so if you have the choice, let's go during the week.

Where and when we’ll we meet?

We usually meet at Aeri Montserrat train station (I’ll be waiting for you outside the station, on the parking) between 9 and 10am. If you come from Barcelona, you can take a train to get there. It takes around 1 hour from Barcelona Plaça España station. Here are the details:

  • Line —> Llobregat Anoia (R5)
  • From —> Pl. Espanya
  • To —> Monistrol de Montserrat

From the station, we’ll take my car to access the best climbing spot according to your level, experience, the weather and your wishes.

What do I need to take with me?

You'll need climbing, sport or mid-mountain shoes and comfortable clothes according to the weather forecast. Take also a small backpack with water and some snacks.

Is the climbing equipment provided?

All the climbing gear is included. You must just take your climbing shoes with you. If you don’t have them, I can try to find a solution.

For how long are we going to climb?

We’ll be climbing for around 5-6 hours

What is the schedule of the day?

We usually meet at the Aeri Montserrat train station between 9 and 10am. We climb for 5 to 6 hours, and come back there around 3-4pm.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
