Description
The highest walls for rock climbing in Catalonia are in the Montsec Range. Meaning “dry mount”, this range is composed of amazing limestone rock, offering fantastic multi-pitch climbing routes from all heights. Join me for a day or more in this beautiful setting!
I will be more than happy to spend the whole day with you guiding to the best routes. Depending on your preferences we can start with some single pitch climbing so you get used to the rock and afterwards we climb a multi-pitch route. This is also a good opportunity for a first time multi-pitch experience.
The walls can be up to 500 meters. The best time to go climbing in the Montsec range is during the autumn and spring, as the days are fresher than in the summer and longer than in the winter. Winter is good for the shorter walls.
The most intense options are probably in the Montrebei wall. But they are all great, depending on what you are looking for. The good thing is that all levels and climbing styles can be found in the Montsec Range, from long hard trad routes to 2-3 pitches bolted routes, and everything in between!
These are my favourite routes in Montrebei:
– Diedre Gris at Paret de Catalunya (400m, 6a+)
– Paul-Laueza at Paret de Catalunya (425m, V+/Ae)
– Santiago Domingo at Paret d´Aragó (400m, V+/Ae)
In Terradets I propose:
– Reina Puig at Paret de les Bagasses (500m, V+/Ae)
– Galí-Molero at Roca Regina (500m, V+/Ae)
And in Vilanova de Meià:
– Musical express at Roca dels Arcs (200m, 6b+)
– Camel at Roca dels Arcs (175m, V+)
– Diedre Farreny (155m, V)
Please note that the price can vary depending on the chosen program. You need prior rock climbing experience to join the longer routes program.

Price details
- Liability and accident insurance, climbing gear and pickup from/to Manresa train station or nearby station are included in the price. Although all climbing gear is included in the price, so you can travel light, I recommend that you bring your own harness and climbing shoes. Photos and Gopro videos (taken by the guide) are also included in the price. Pickup in another location can be done at an extra fee.
- These prices correspond to the shorter routes: Musical Express, Camel and Diedre Farreny. If you want to climb a more difficult route, the prices are: Terradet's routes are 300€ 1 person and 175€ group of 2, Montrebei's routes are 350€ 1 person and 195€ group of 2.
Itinerary
Day 1: Climbing day
We will meet around 8am in Maresa and drive to the climbing location in around 1 hour and 30 minutes. We can stop on the way for a quick coffee and snack. If you drive we will meet at the climbing location or on the way so we can share the drive.
The approach to the wall is usually around 20-30 minutes on climbers trails so approach shoes are recommended.
Depending on the chosen route we can spend from 2 to 8 hours on the wall. The descents vary from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
If climbing shorter routes we can climb 2 or 3 in a day.
I will drive you back to Manresa before the last train leaves (last train leaves around 10pm).

Wear light but strong comfortable sport clothes, mountain oriented if possible. Quick drying t-shirt is recommended, and try to avoid black clothes. Adapt the clothing to the weather.

Ever since I was a kid I have been in contact with nature, and this has been my environment. Family traditions led to my first steps in the hiking world. I discovered wonderful places and learned to enjoy and respect the mountains. Still vivid in my memories are the ascents around Ordesa NP and the Catalan Pyrenees during my childhood.
At the age of eighteen I took my first steps in rock climbing. I dedicated some years climbing traditional classic routes, with the Montsec range as my school. With the experience gained I widened my horizons and started discovering new walls: Ordesa, Puig Campana, Penyal d'Ifach, Los Mallos de Riglos, Montrebei, Terradets...
In 2000, I got my Civil Engineer degree. I then spent my holidays climbing. At this point I started exploring the big possibilities France and its walls opened up: Verdon, Vercors, Jonte...
In 2002 I went on a one-year trip to Australia, but without climbing. After that year I realized rock climbing was my real passion. At then started spending as much time as I had climbing. My climbing trips starting taking me further and further. It was in Switzerland where I discovered my favorite climbing terrain: the amazing limestone walls of Wendenstöcke, Rätikon, Sanetsch... After that, new destinations kept coming: UEA, Jordan, Morocco, Dolomites, Sardinia, Corsica...
Finally, I decided to become a Climbing Guide and offer all my climbing experience to you.
My formal training started in 2011, as I became a Climbing Monitor of the High Mountain Catalan Academy (ECAM). Just after that, in 2012, I got my Climbing Sport Technician degree.
Not satisfied with that, I continued my training to get the highest climbing degree available in Spain. In the spring of 2014 I finished my training and became a Climbing Superior Sport Technician.
