This 3-day program will take you across the Ushiro Tateyama mountain range, in the north of the Japan Alps, from Mt Karamatsu to Mt Goryu. It is a particularly great way to discover these beautiful mountains in the Nagano Prefecture.
On the first day of the program, I'll pick you up at your accommodation in Hakuba Village. This area is very popular both among hikers during the summer and among skiers during the winter.
From the village, we'll hike up to Shappoike Hut (1850m), where our traverse begins. During the hike, we'll traverse two long ridges: Happoo ridge and Toomi ridge. From up here, you'll enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding mountains!
We'll spend the nights at two different mountains huts: Mt. Karamutsu hut on the first night and Mt Goryu hut on the second one. I'm sure you'll enjoy the friendly atmosphere up here!
I'll take a maximum of 4 people on this hike. Please be aware that you need a good fitness level to be able to enjoy the walk, as we'll be trekking for around 5 hours a day.
So if this 3-day traverse from Mt Karamatsu to Mt Goryu sounds like an interesting plan, contact me now and join me for an unforgettable experience!
I also offer other hiking options in this area. Check out my Mt Shioruma ascent via Hakuba Daissekei. It's a great 2-day option!

Mountain Guide
I'm a JMGA certified hiking guide as well as one of Nagano Prefecture's Official Mountain Guides for North Japan Alps.
My love for mountains and skiing brought me to live in countries like New Zealand, Canada and Europe (including Chamonix) as a ski instructor and as a tour coordinator for over 10 years.
In Chamonix I was inspired by the IFMGA mountain guides, who were my mentors and who had a lot of compassions, and I started to aspire to become a guide myself.
Currently, I live in the village of Hakuba and guiding mainly in the mountains of North Japan Alps.
My motto is to "have fun safely" and I value the communications I have with clients whilst guiding.
If you want to feel glad you came at the end of the day, then join me to enjoy the Japanese mountains together!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
