Description

I invite you to join me on this open group tour and climb Mount Triglav (2864m), the highest peak in Slovenia. Our 2-day ascent will start from the Soča valley, one of the easiest ways to approach this famous peak.

This tour is available from the end of June until the end of September. We depart every Sunday and Wednesday.

From the village of Trenta na Logu we will begin our hike, heading towards the Zadnjica Valley. We will then hike upwards through a historical route with remains of the First World War. We will spend the night at the Dom na Doliču hut (2151 m).

The next day, we will climb through an incredible lunar landscape, at 2500m, and we will finally reach the summit of Mount Triglav after climbing a via ferrata.

Please note we will adapt the program to weather conditions, therefore we will choose the best time to climb to the top of Mount Triglav. This could be either on the first day in the afternoon, or on the second day in the early morning.

We have the option of descending from the top by the same route, forward, to the Planika hut or hiking down to Kredarica. This way, we could make the whole traverse of Mount Triglav ridge. This is a quite long via ferrata climb and hence a large and scenic round trip.

We will cover a total of 2000 meters of ascent and descent during these days. It will take us about 12-18 hours of hiking, spread in two days. We will start at 7 am on day 1 and finish on 4 pm on day 2.  Please note the departure and return time may change a little, depending on weather conditions, but it will remain around this schedule. Also, in case of bad weather, we will find an alternative safe goal to reach.

Also note on our way back to the Dom na Doliču hut, before descending to the valley, we have the option of visiting the historic remnants of one of the largest and highest military posts, built during the World War I and the World War II.

Are you ready to climb this famous peak in Slovenia? Then send me a request, join this group ascent tour and we will reach together the summit of Mount Triglav.

Mountain Guide

I’m an IFMGA Mountain Guide and an Alpine Instructor from Slovenia.

At the back of the house where I grew up, past a slope, a higher hill and some rocks, you could see Mount Triglav rising towards the blue sky.

Mountains were a part of my backyard and I started practicing alpinism when I was a schoolboy. At that time, I enrolled for a sport climbing school and I became an alpine instructor in 1995.

Between 1995 and 1997, I’ve been a member of the Sub-commission on Extreme Alpinism for the Slovene Alpine Society. Some years later, I was Chief of the Commission for Alpinism.

As a member of the alpine team, I went on several expeditions in North and South America, the Himalaya, the Tian Shan and the Kookshall-Too mountain range.

I climbed more than 700 routes in Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland and France. Long winter climbs and ridges are always among my favorites.

I made some first winter ascents: on two routes on the north wall of Ribezni, Možnica (700m, V+, 5, UIAA VI/A1) and in Jof di Montasio / Poliški Špik, Grapa (700m, UIAA 4, ascent and complete ridge traverse). Other memorable climbs were a winter traverse of 4000 m peaks in Mont Blanc (4807 m) and the Slovenian Peuterey ridge traverse, among many others.

After 6 years of training, I obtained my IFMGA certification in 2010.

I organize many guided ski touring, rock climbing and ice climbing trips in Slovenia, especially in the surroundings of Mt. Triglav and the whole Soča valley.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
