Mount Everest guided expedition from Tibet

I invite you to a once for a lifetime experience: a 58-day Mount Everest expedition. At the border of Nepal and Tibet lies Mount Everest (8848 m), the world’s highest peak and one of the most extreme challenges for climbers around the globe.

Although you can climb this Himalaya giant from both sides, I propose doing it from the Tibetan side because it’s relatively easier and less expensive. Our climbing route will be the North Ridge, which I consider a safe route as we can avoid the dangerous ice fall on the south of the mountain.

It’s worth mentioning I count with an incredible team, including Sherpa, cooks, doctor and guides. All of us are widely experienced on climbing Everest through the North Side and fully trained to help you achieve your goal safely. I’m a mountain guide member of the International Federation of the Mountain Guide Associations (IFMGA).

ITINERARY

Days 1 to 5: Kathmandu – Lhasa

The first day, you’ll arrive at Kathmandu (Nepal) and be transferred to your hotel. You’ll stay at the Nepali capital for two days during Tibet visa processing. The fourth day, you’ll fly from Kathmandu to Gonggor airport in Lhasa (Tibet) (3650m-11680ft). You’ll stay in a hotel. On day 5, we’ll take you sightseeing in Lhasa. After that, we’ll keep our travel towards Everest base camp.

Days 6-8: on the way to Everest Base Camp

On day 6 we’ll drive you to Shigatse (3900m-12480ft). You will stay in a hotel there. The following day, we’ll travel to Thingri (4350m-14,268ft) and spend the night at a guest house. We’ll arrive to Everest Base Camp (5200m-17,056ft) on day 8.

Days 9 to 11: getting ready

We’ll stay at base camp to acclimatize and prepare the loads to take to the Advanced Base Camp, which is 22km away.

Days 12-13: trek to Advanced Base Camp

On day 12 we’ll trek to the Intermediate Camp (6200m-20,336ft). The following day, we’ll continue trekking to Advanced Base Camp (ABC) (6400m-20,992ft). During this treks we’ll have yak support. ABC is right under the shadow of Changtse, so we’ll enjoy a spectacular view of the whole route.

Days 14-51: Summit of Mount Everest

After leaving ABC, the route goes up East Rongbuk glacier to the nerve of the glacier and then up snow slopes to the North Col at 7,000m. There, we’ll find Camp 1. Then, we’ll continue our way through a long snow slope, until we reach Camp 2 on a snow ledge at 7,500m.

The route from Camp 2 to Camp 3 is up a series of rock and shingle steps, a very easy terrain to walk on, although it’s usually very windy. Our last camp will be Camp 4, at 8,300m. To get there, we’ll traverse across rock steps and snow slopes.

We’ll head to the summit from Camp 4, going up through a mix of rock and snow steps. We must be careful in this part, as the steps may be quite steep in places. Across the First Step (8500m) there will be fixed ropes. The Second Step (8580 m) goes through a series of small ledges covered with snow until we arrive to the famous ladder with fixed ropes. Then we continue towards the Third Step at 8690m. There’s also fixed rope in this part, followed by a short section of corniced ridge that will lead us to the summit.

Day 52: the return

We’ll go back from Advanced Base Camp to Base Camp

Days 53 to 58: going back to Kathmandu

At the end of our Mount Everest expedition, we’ll drive again towards Shegar Thingri, then continue to Shigatse and finally arrive to Lhasa, where we’ll fly to Kathmandu. During day 57 you’ll stay at Kathmandu and after that, fly to your final destination.
