Description

Our 7-day adventure will take place in the Saas Region, in Switzerland. It is perfect for those experienced skiers and splitboarders who are looking for a new challenge. Join me on this Monte Rosa guided splitboarding week traverse and discover the hidden treasures of the Alps!

Due to the variety of landscapes and its spectacular glacier route, Monte Rosa is one of the most famous tours in the Alps. And when you pair the beautiful scenery with some fun splitboarding opportunities, you are in for a treat!

On this trip we will explore amazing peaks like Mount Breithorn (4165 meters), Piramide Vincent (4270 mt) as well as the Felik glacier and Lyskamm Glacier as we move from hut to hut**.** Every morning, we will have a new place to discover and every afternoon, a new place to rest and relax. For a more detailed description of the trip, take a look at the itinerary below!

Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to the Alps

Travel to the Alps, to the Saas region. We will leave at dawn and arrive at the hotel late in the afternoon. We will stay and have dinner at the same hotel.

Day 2: Breithorn (4165 meters)

The adventure begins. First, we will climb on the first cable car to Klein Matterhorn. From there we will ascend to our first summit, the Breithorn (4165 mt) and then finally descend to the Guida Vall d’Ayas hut (3200 mt).

Day 3: Castor (4226 mt) - Felik glacier - Quintino Sella shelter (3200 mt)

We will leave at dawn and direct ourselves to the refuge towards Castor (4226 mt).

We will descend by its spectacular edge to the Felik glacier to slip through it to the Quintino Sella hut (3200 mt).

Day 4: Liskam Glacier - Naso del Liskamm (4272 mt) - Pyramid Vicent (4270 mt) - Gnifetti Shelter (3611 mt))

We will leave the shelter and direct ourselves towards the valley that we descended the previous day. Then we will access the Liskam Glacier and cross it until we reach the point where we can ascend the summit of **Naso del Liskamm (4272 mt).**From there, we can descend directly to the refuge or make another climb to the Pyramid Vincent (4270 mt).

We will finish the day at the Gnifetti hut(3611 mt).

Day 5: Gnifetti shelter - Margarita Refuge - Different peaks we may ascend

From Gnifetti shelter we will ascend to the Margarita Refuge, the highest in Europe located at Punta Gnifetti or Signalkuppe at (4554 mt).

On the way we can ascend to different peaks: Balmenhorn (4167 mt ), Corno Nero (4322 mt), Ludwigshöhe (4342 mt), Parrotpitze (4436 mt) Zumsteinpitze (4563 mt).

Descent by the Greezletscher to Monte Rosa hut (2795 mt).

Day 6: Ascend to Torre di Castelfranco or cima di Jazzi (3804 mt)

We will have two options depending on fatigue and desire:

– Ascent to a modest summit, Torre di Castelfranco or cima di Jazzi (3804 mt)
and go down to Zermatt.
– We could also extend the route by crossing to the  Brittania Hut in the Saas Valley.

Possibility of  ascending  Stralhorn (4190 mt).

Night in Britania hut.

Day 7: Last day!!!

Descent to Saas Fee from the Britannia hut and taxi to Zermatt.

Return Trip.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy.
