Description

If you are looking to venture yourself into via ferrata for the first time, the Mont Averau via ferrata in the spectacular Dolomite mountains is the perfect option for you.

A network of steel cables, bridges and ladders make it an ideal route for beginners with no previous climbing experience, as you won’t need any thecnical climbing skills. You will be able to safely reach the Averau summit (2649m) enjoying an exciting climbing adventure, at the heart of this impressive mountain range.

This route is even suitable for children from 10 years old, making it an ideal plan for families. The Averau via ferrata is definitely one of the best spots to try via ferrata for the first time.

I grew up in this area and I know this place like the back of my hand. During this tour I will show you my favorite spots in the area, including famous peaks as Mount Pelmo (3168m) and Mount Civetta (3220m).

The amazing Dolomite mountains are the birthplace of via ferrata. They were first built during World War I and soldiers used them to traverse the mountains.  The mountainside was the theatre of battle between Austria and Italy. You will see some fortifications and trenches that date back to WWI along our tour.

We will meet in a parking lot in Cortina d’Ampezzo and drive to the via ferrata’s starting point from the city. The tour will take us in total about 7 hours.

So if you want to join me on this via ferrata experience, just check the dates below and book your trip! Come join a group or bring your friends along for an exciting climbing experience in the heart of the Dolomites.

Mountain Guide

I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.

Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.

My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).

Feel free to get in touch with me if you are coming in the Dolomites for skiing (alpine, freeride and ski touring), rock climbing, sport climbing and multi pitch climbing. It will be my pleasure to guide you here and let you discover my secret spots.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
