Description

There are a number of spectacular volcanoes throughout Mexico, topped by the highest peak in the country, the Pico de Orizaba (18,851 feet). And, on this 10-day expedition, we will take you to the summit of that mighty volcano, along with another great peak.

Beginning in the Mexican city of Puebla, our journey will first take us to the third highest peak in Mexico: Iztaccihuauatl (17,342 feet). This peak will act as a fantastic warm-up climb for Orizaba. However, you can rest assured that climbing to the top of Iztaccihuauatl is an amazing adventure all on its own. The climb, along with the views are absolutely stunning, especially of the nearby Popocatepetl (17,801 feet), which is the second highest peak in Mexico.

After climbing Iztaccihuauatl, you will have plenty of time to properly acclimatize. Furthermore, you will get to enjoy several days exploring the various sites, towns and areas before we reach Orizaba.

Once we reach the Pico de Orizaba, we will make our way up the peak, venturing from the trail head to the high camp, which is located just over 16, 000 feet. After that, we will make our final trek to the peak’s incredible summit, where you can enjoy the magnificent views.

While participants only require basic mountaineering skills to enjoy this trip, it is important that you are in excellent physical condition.
