Description

Marmolada, the Queen of the Dolomites, was one of the first via ferrata sites in this mountain range. I invite you to climb it through its gentle and beautiful west ridge. Although the itinerary does not present any particular technical difficulty, the glacial environment, the high altitude and the length of the climbing route make it a challenging adventure!

Our starting point will be preferably in Val di Fassa so we can meet up there the day before and check the necessary equipment.

I can also suggest some interesting lodging in the area such as the Oswald Hotel. There are many other nearby accommodations in Canazei di Fassa (Cristallo Hotel or the Gran Paradise Hotel). In Campitello di Fassa you can even stay in comfortable apartments.

This one day experience is a really complete program since we won’t only enjoy a via ferrata trip. We’ll start with a walk, going to the via ferrata and finally have some glacier action! What’s more exciting is that you’ll be also teleported back to the First World War since that fighting took place right here.

I am happy to offer this full mountaineering and historical package in Marmolada. It’ll be a big pleasure for me if you join me. Send your request to book the trip!

And if you’d like to try a rock climbing adventure in the Dolomites, please check out this full day program in Val di Fassa.

Mountain Guide

I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.

Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.

My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).

Feel free to get in touch with me if you are coming in the Dolomites for skiing (alpine, freeride and ski touring), rock climbing, sport climbing and multi pitch climbing. It will be my pleasure to guide you here and let you discover my secret spots.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
