Join me on a 2-day alpine traverse to La Meije, one of the most emblematic summits of the Ecrins Massif in France.

La Meije is located in the Hautes-Alpes and it is the second highest peak of the Ecrins Massif. It is 3984 meters high and from its summit you will get breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

I propose a 2-day tour during which we will enjoy a demanding but absolutely rewarding alpine traverse. If you are in good shape we can do it in two days, but it can also be done in three days if you need more time. You will find below the details about this 2-day programme:

The first day starts at the foot of the cable car of La Grave, a small but famous ski resort situated in the village that receives the same name. Then we will climb through the rocks to the glacier that leads us to the pass. From there, we will get to the refuge where we will spend the night.

The next day, we will start climbing to La Meije. The trip continues with a few more climbing steps between La Grave valley and the Berarde village. Reaching the “Doigt de Dieu” summit will be another goal for us during this traverse.

Finally, we will enjoy a great descent to the renowned Eagle refuge, where we can spend the night or just continue descending to La Grave where our trip finishes.
