Description

Let’s climb the frozen waterfalls of Tyrol. With eleven different areas, this Austrian region offers good ice climbing fun during the winter.

It does not matter if it’s your first time or if you are in search of a big challenge. I am here to propose you a custom and personalized ice climbing course. Tyrol has something for everyone: frozen waterfalls, glacier walls and amazing ice towers.

However, the ice surfaces of Tyrol are always unpredictable. So, it is very important to have the help of a local and certified guide with good knowledge of the region.

My idea is to test your current techniques and teach you then how to work on an ice wall, using the proper equipment. These ice climbing courses will take place in the Kitzbühel Alps.

The area around St Johann in Tyrol has some great unknown and quiet locations to enjoy this program. If the weather conditions help we can also practice in Gasteinertal, Großarltal and Stubaital.

This ice climbing course runs during the month of January. It consists in 2 learning days although I can add some extra days if you wish. The group size cannot exceed 3 participants. That way I can offer you a course focused on your own expectations and safety.

All participants must have a good fitness level since we will hike for 4 or 6 hours each day. In addition, climbing and belaying experience is also a plus.

So, come with me and experience the fantastic feeling of climbing vertical ice walls. Learn all the secrets of this exciting activity in a unique place as Tyrol!

Mountain Guide

I am a IFMGA certified mountain guide and of course a mountain lover. I am an Austrian guide based in the Austrian Alps, more precisely in Tyrol. After university I worked as a rep for the ski season in Austria. I had worked many years as a Ski and Snowboard instructor and after successful expeditions to Peru and Nepal I decided to become a certified Mountain Guide.

I work with my wife Sally managing my own Mountain Guiding Company. Sally is a qualified Walking Guide leading Alpine hikes in the summer and snowshoe walks in the winter, as well as Skiing Instructor

Our Mountain guiding Company offers a full range of mountain activities: hiking, ski touring, Rock climbing, Ice climbing, Off Piste Skiing & Snowboarding, Avalanche Awareness, all taking place in the beautiful Austria and around Europe.

The programs we offer are available for all levels, from beginners to experts. Furthermore, it includes classic tours as well as the opportunity to explore new terrains. My main objective is to focus on “Safety” and also in providing a personal service from planning to completion. I also want you enjoying and discovering new beautiful spots and live amazing experiences!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
