At the heart of the North Japan Alps and only 3 hours away from Tokyo, Hakuba offers exciting opportunities for outdoor lovers. I invite you to join me and enjoy a wonderful private hiking traverse.
We'll hike up three mountains: Mt Shirouma, Mt Shakushi and Mt Hakuba-yari. These peaks also receive the name of ‘Hakuba-Sanzan’ and are among the 100 famous Japanese mountains.
On our way to Mt Shirouma, we'll pass through Hakuba Daisekkei, which is one of the top 3 Japanese snow fields.
Besides, we'll enjoy a relaxing bath at Hakuba Yari Onsen, a very famous high-altitude hot spring. Sitting at 2100 m above sea level, this natural open air onsen can only be reached by foot. In return, you'll get a superb (and quite unique) view of the mountains and clouds!
This 3-day hiking traverse includes walking between 4 and 7 hours a day. Therefore, you should be in a good physical condition. It's also important to have some previous technical knowledge.. If you are a group of 5 or more people, contact me and we will plan a tour for your group.
Would you like to join me on this great adventure in the Japan Alps? Send me a request and book your trip! We will enjoy a wonderful hiking adventure in the Hakuba mountains.

Mountain Guide
I'm a JMGA certified hiking and ski guide, as well as a telemark ski instructor. I also hold the Nagano Prefecture's Official Mountain Guide license, meaning that I'm particularly proficient with the mountains in Nagano i.e. most of the Japan Alps. I've also competed at World Cup for telemark skiing during 2002-2009 years.
I have been living in the village of Hakuba, in Nagano, right at the base of mountains in the North Japan Alps since 2012. However, I am originally from the island of Shikoku towards the south of Japan, so I used to love the sea more than mountains and used to enjoy scuba diving, surfing, and kayaking. But from the moment I met telemark skiing, I've been enchanted by the mountains. It was fun to hike up whether it be on foot or on telemark skis, and to discover the mountains this way, and eventually I chose to pursue the ambition of becoming a hiking guide. My motto is for my clients to enjoy mountains safely.
My favourite guiding field is the North Japan Alps. The infrastructure here, including the gondola and buses, make the mountain ridge lines so accessible!!
I prefer hiking long trails than peak hunting. I usually save one month every year for trekking for myself and mainly choose to trek abroad. I particularly love trekking in Europe!
The distinct four seasons in Japan is very unique, and you can enjoy the mountains in different ways during different seasons. I would like to show you the best way to enjoy Japanese mountains that suits the season, so please join me on the discovery trip!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
