Description

This is an invitation to explore a subtropical paradise in Japan: the Ogasawara Islands (also known as Bonin islands), located 1000 km to the south of Tokyo.

This is a cluster of more than 30 isolated islands in the Pacific Ocean offering an adventurous experience in nature. However, in this 5-day hiking trip we'll visit two of them: Haha-jima (Mother Island) and Chichi-jima (Father Island).

To get there, we'll take a 24-hour boat trip from Tokyo, that will leave us at Chichi-jima.

Surrounded by a clear water sea and beautiful beaches, the islands provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience for hikers seeking to appreciate wildlife in its own endemic ecosystem.

One of the highlights of this trip is watching humpback whales, which is recommended between January and April.

Why not venturing on a 5-day trip to this Japanese solitary islands? Check the next departure dates and send me a request!

Another great destination you can access from Tokyo is Kozushima island. For more details, take a look at this 3-day hiking trip in Mt Tenjo, Kozushima.

Mountain Guide

I was born in 1971 in Tokyo. My parents used to bring me to the mountains in my childhood, and when I was big enough for a high school, I started to go to the mountains myself and continued since then.

I have been guiding in the Japanese mountains full time since 2005, and I guide all year around. I love to share my time and take my clients up to summits of classic mountains to less known beautiful mountains, as long as it is in Japan!

Personally, I'm a keen rock climber, sawanobori practitioner (climbing up streams and waterfalls), and particularly passionate about mountains on islands. I actually love the nature in general, and love the sea as much as I love the mountains.

I am a fully certified guide with JMGA (Japan Mountain Guide Association) Hiking Level 2 qualification, as well as am a Nagano Prefecture's Official Mountain Guide - meaning that I know my the history, fauna and flora of local mountains very well.
I am not fluent in English but I communicate with some English mixed with body language!

Contact me and join me on the trips I recommend in Japan!!

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
